    Pros

    Compensation pretty good. Still a lot of fine people (elbeit stressed out) at the divisions.

    Cons

    Corporate management, (particularly corporate marketing and sales) very arrogant and adds zero value. Company has incorporated Lean principles, which means only cutting inventory and doing the same amount of work with less customer service and production folks. Very bloated middle management with many, many phony boloney jobs. Parker is now run similar to the government...a big spend and waste bureaucracy that is only interested in the numbers reported back to corporate (mostly using smoke and mirrors). When times get rough, customer service and production are let go, not ridiculous middle management positions. Customer service is atrocious throughout the company, and recent internal surveys confirm that morale is at an all-time low. Our distributor network is also aging and eroding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management (particularly corporate sales and marketing) must lose its arrogant style. The customer is no longer a focus (in fact, not even talked about), just the stock price and RONA. Parker still offers a superior product, but that gap is closing fast. Unless management cuts fat and turns its focus back to the customer, I’m afraid Parker will be irrelevant in 15-20-years. This would be a total shame, as Parker owes its success to previous management being so customer driven.

    Pros

    Top corp leaders are the best of the best. Very good retirement and 401k program. Company is a top investor performer and strong knowledge of P&L at every level of the organization. Metric savvy. Good focus on customers and Eng solutions.

    Cons

    Very top heavy below the corp level with to many layers which make key actions slow from the site levels sty times. Group staff and larger divisions are very ridged and they don't talk the talk. Lean does not mean "Less" "employees" "are" "needed". It should focus on optimization of materials, labor, and information not just reducing heads. Need to focus more on employee / work life balancing. Lastly loosing its family feel that was around during the Pat Parker days. Pay is ok but below peer companies. Benefits have become very exsp. the past few years. Vacation and holidays are on the low end of the spectrum. Very "clicky" when it comes to promotions and discipline.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take time to listen to your employees at every level. Group and Division leaders need to keep promises / and focus documented and verbal. Invest in equipment and provide support / hand on leadership. Empower and trust site employees to make key actions without micro managing, let them be creating with problem solving solutions. Not every situation will fit a model paradigm already established. Be consistent when rolling out key business focus tool roll out.

    Pros

    Parker Controls System Division currently multiple development programs with steady work and provides steady pays.

    Cons

    Leadership of Controls System Division at Irvine consistently under-hire number of required resources level. Employee working over 50 hours week are normal and required. In fact, leadership and program management openly stated and planned engineering resource staffing level for minimum of 10+ hour work day, 50+ hours work week for each employee. People are not treated with dignity and respect by division leadership.

    Morale of the division is so low that once the job market picks up, people are going to leave in truck loads.

    Interesting job opportunities. Plenty of works, reasonable compensations

    Cons

    Long long working hours everyday! Leadership and management treat each employee as interchangeable parts. Abusive working environment. Program management leadership has no respect of employee's personal life and deliberately planned staffing level to be substantially below required level. Leadership has no plan for the long term, reactionary decision made on daily bases. Program Leadership get no respect from most of the engineer. They are so ignorance that engineer consistently laugh behind their back on their idiotic comments and decisions.

    the moment job market in Los Angeles area picks up, significant among of employee will likely leave.

    I really like my job when HTG owned us. It was stable and not crumbling.

    Cons

    I just got laid off and I hate all the big shots who sit in the corner offices and collect bonuses and make too much. They have to lay people off to make sure they get the big bonuses pay out. Parker destroyed my company and now my family paycheck. Any they pay people to be bully to the peoples and he is gone now but we still have the greedy bonus takers.

    Wipe out all these lazy manager trying to get bonus by metric and willing to lay off the workers to do it.

    Haha because the customers are laying YOU off Parker!

    Pros

    Work relatively non-challenging, holiday / vacation compensation, 401K match, if management has an affinity toward you strong likelihood you will become a "lifer". Very little more to add to the "pros" of working at Parker-Hannifin except name recognition of a large industrial company.

    Cons

    Management in a constant stat of flux, routinely changing every year, employees lack desire to improve / grow, company focused on M&As with little understanding on how to grow organically, training was non-existent, little incentives for employees to "do more", expectations were always a moving target therefore ability to exceed was not an option. Male dominated management structure.

    Pros

    Fantastic benibenibenefits plans, bonuses and opportunities if you are in the right place with good upper managers.

    Cons

    Managemenphilosophy ist and their subordinates are all driven buy a "PPP" parker performance plan. They can have little to do what needs to be done. Annual reviews can contain petty comments instead of constructive criticism.
    Corporate philosophy is to purchase company rather than to invent something.

    Engineer success, not purchase it at the expense of the United States job market.

    Pros

    Pay and Bonus system is generous; generally get an increase once every 2 years. Performance review done quarterly with specific numbers to hit based on division or location operating performance. Corporate organization and requirements are flexible enough to apply to a large variety of operations and sizes of divisions. Freedom to do what makes sense for your industry / market / region. Technical resources available if you know how to work through complicated cooperate systems to find the right info or person. Offer a large variety of training opportunities. Lots of opportunity for advancement if you are willing to change locations and positions. (Easy to find job postings)

    Cons

    Lots of cultural variation from one division to another, however long hours and lifestyle inflexibility are very common. Strong "good old boys" network can interfere with implementation of large and small scale improvements.
