I worked at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

None To Be Found At New Ulm Plant

    Cons

The managers are the biggest bully's I have ever seen. They talk about empowerment, but manage by fear and intimidation.
They need corporate to come in and clean out the inexperienced management and insert some people to bring about some positive change. “lean” has become overused in a lot of companies including parker. This is a disaster waiting to happen!
The dysfunction and chaos is beyond belief.
Disconnected management that rides the back of it's loyal employees. lean at parker means do more with less
If you're interested in getting promoted, doing your job well is not necessary. What you need to do is be the top Brown-Noser!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be respected at all, get rid of the offensive people who are getting rid of the good people..
Too many "corporate" and "staff" managers etc. - .the production employees make the money to pay your overinflated salaries! Start listing to the people who actually produce the producst to SELL!

    Pros

A paycheck that wasn't late. Good people.

    Cons

Hostile environment, dirty, not environmentally caring, discriminatory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TRAINING, TRAINING, TRAINING. Listen to employees that are willing to speak up about management instead of getting rid of them.

I worked at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The pay and benefits was the best part.

    Cons

This company is a company that if you suck up you can move up. If gourmet don't tell on people and try to make them look bad you will not move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't listen to all the gossip cause most of it is untrue.

    Pros

SSD Drives Division makes a good AC / DC motor drive product. The cooperation of the division level engineering staff is super.

    Cons

The con here is Parker management. Parker management has the vision of selling through distribution. SSD Drives name was built on customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Return to customer service. OK to sell through distribution, allow for more flexibility. SSD needs their own sales force, not a Parker sales that can sell anything from hydraulic valves, to pneumatic hoses, to precision cooling and AC/DC drives.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Parker provides alternative benefits coverage and also has on-site services at some locations. Some locations offer AWS. If you show promise early in your career then internal growth opportunities are available more quickly. Employees who leave often return to Parker in different roles for higher pay.

    Cons

Parker is very conservative and slow to change. Some systems are old or home grown and transitioning to newer ones is a slow process. Parker's management is more reactive to situations and does not seem to be able to clearly communicate the vision. The culture used to have a family oriented feel where the employee was valued but that has changed. Now employees work long hours with constantly changing demands and little appreciation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Make efforts to be more proactive. Communicate clearly and honestly. Stop making unreasonable demands on your employees. Focus on more employee development.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Fair and stable employment with good salary and benefits
    -Many opportunities for advancement
-Huge corporation, so again, the opportunities are vast

    Cons

-Lots of 'experienced' individuals that at times can be resistant to change and new ideas
-Huge corporation, so there are plenty of gatekeepers that sometimes make progress difficult (i.e. significant red tape/approvals for investing in new, but much needed equipment)

Great People and a well-managed company

I worked at Parker Hannifin full-time

    Pros

The people employed at Parker are excellent. Feels like one large extended family. I would definitely recommend working at Parker Hannifin.

    Cons

The only challenges of working here are that it is an old school engineering company. With that comes being well managed and always profitable, but may lack modern business theories and strategies.

Current Employee - Production Planner in New Haven, IN

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The employees. For the most part, they seem to care about each other and doing the job right.

    Cons

Corporate management seems more interested in the shareholder and the next dividend check rather than the most important asset - the employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest as much time and energy at the individual employee level as it appears to be with shareholders. The employees are the company, not the shareholders.
