    Good place to gain experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsParkson is great at promoting from within. Work/life balance is great with many of the employees are very friendly. The work is great and you learn a lot. The Florida office is nice.

ConsThere is no real training for new hires, just shadowing a senior employee and try to catch as soon as possible. There is a large gap between senior employees and newly hired. High employee turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on being an environmental engineering company for the long term. Develop your products properly and bring back R&D. Connect with employees, be visible to them.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    High employee turn over rate

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPrivately owned, so have the flexibility to try new things. Owner extremely dedicated to company and environmental issues. Owner committed to supplying the necessary capital requested by upper management to grow the company.

ConsHigh employee turn over rate. Many reorganizations. Hire a lot of executives that are not familiar with the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake it a point to compliment employees on their strengths and accomplishments, rather than just criticizing them for mistakes. Allow more opinions from field service and outside sales on the directions the company should be heading.

    Very Unstable, Poor Management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsGood company to work for 2 to 3 years. You gain a lot of experience within those periods,

ConsDue to poor budget and forecasting by management, organization structure is changed every 6 months. High employee turnover. Management has short term focus. Unlike other corporations, a whole year seems long term here. You are bound to be moved around performing different roles and may have to wear different hats at times. The company has lost transparency under new management where information is not freely shared leaving employees clueless about the performance and sometime their job duties. As a result, employees seem to have low morale and self-esteem.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocusing on short term goals such as profitability and shareholder's ROI will lead to worse long term implications. Try to keep employees (whatever are left) happy, will lead to better performance. It's simple cause and effect relation. Learn from corporations like Southwest Airlines, Boston Consulting Group etc. where employees and customers are prime focus for wellbeing.

A company well past its prime and trying to milk a sickly cow.

Sales (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsParkson is privately held as a tiny part of a giant conglomerate, so one would expect long-term thinking with little emphasis on the short term numbers. Sales force is skilled.

ConsContrary to the typical tendencies of privately held companies, Parkson is tied very closely to the short term numbers. The result is inconsistent and out-of-touch management, with poor treatment of employees and customers. Management's approach is to manipulate both the numbers and the employees - a recipe for a downward spiral. You can fool some of the people all the time .....

Advice to Senior ManagementAccept that past practices have been a failure and change gears completely, moving to strategic thinking, planning and management. Get rid of dinosaurs. Adopt leadership rather than manipulation - trust your people.

    Great Values. Shaky Future.

Product Manager (Former Employee) Fort Lauderdale, FL

ProsVery family oriented business that treats its employees very ethically and fairly.

ConsLimited or inconsistent chance for advancement where more responsibility is not always rewarded. Lots of personnel turnover in the past few years - most with little positive effect.
The biggest challenge is that the company's technology portfolio doesn't really offer a clear future for the company or its employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company needs to expand its technologies to create more opportunities for its future and that of its employees. The company also needs to be more consistent in accepting and following through on the bringing new ideas into the company.

    Project Engineering/Management

    Project Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsConsistent work and many opportunities to enhance your skills. Collaborative engineering enviroment for the various product lines and systems.

ConsIncreased resposibilties without additional compensation. Bonus structure to complex to every be awarded. Sales representatives need more buy in when selling non-standard or over promised equipment.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore attention needs to be addressed to salaries for people that have excepted more responsibility. Bring current employees to level that new hires are offered for the same job.
