I have been working at Parsons Brinckerhoff full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There are some truly wonderful people working here. They make for great experiences and awesome mentoring. They make it easy to get up and come to work.

    Cons

Unfortunately, those higher up the hierarchy are not the most pleasant people. They also tend to forget that those of us on the bottom rungs do everyday what they don't know how to do. Also, unless you are making a lot of money, this can be a VERY expensive company for which to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop forgetting about those of us who work little clerk, analyst, and biller jobs. We may be little cogs, but your machine would be broken without us. It would be nice to not be treated as though we don't matter to the executive team.

    Pros

You can work on large multi-discipline projects that are often the leading projects in a particular city.

    Cons

It's a large multi-national where you can remain anonymous. It can often appear that the company has little appreciation for your work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide benefits, other than salary that retains the best talent and makes employees feel appreciated

I worked at Parsons Brinckerhoff as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

I was technically hired as an intern even though the length of employment was around 2 years. I conducted a lot of data collection out in the field as it relates to traffic studies. I set up car counting boxes, sound level recorders, and took measurements of roadways and intersections. It was fun getting out and studying traffic flows and intersections.

    Cons

The one downside to the job was that it was all contract work for the Michigan Department of Transportation. So I was usually busy in the summer and then I would be laid off in the winter. The work hours were very inconsistent, however I knew that going in and my job was not a typical entry level job. I was not an engineer of any kind and it is a civil engineering firm that mostly employees engineers.

I have been working at Parsons Brinckerhoff

    Pros

it used to be a great company to work for and the company cared for their employees

    Cons

since the sale to WSP morale has declined. Employees are fined over the phone! not a face to face conversation. this is only the beginning.

    Pros

    Cons

No loyalty to tenured employees. Recent lay off notices were delivered by phone! a 25 yr employee told to apply for their current job.

too sad about the sale to WSP where PB employees don't matter.

I have been working at Parsons Brinckerhoff

    Pros

Great work life balance, vacation days are accrued and carry over year to year, plenty of passionate engineers to work with.

    Cons

Takes way too long to get anything done or changed as it is very common for employees to be with the company for 20+ years. Salaries below industry average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to be a more nimble organization to reduce margin erosion
