    Pros

They have some success in picking up large projects but this is really the result of some quality individuals and a few teams.

    Cons

Where to begin. Its lost its culture after they make the executives redundant and run Melbourne out of Sydney.

    Flexible schedules
    Special focus on emerging professionals

    Cons

    Not very diverse
    Top heavy management
    Hard to advance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More focus should be placed on personal growth and they should consider changes to their top-down management style.

    Pros

    Pros

Easy work. Almost no company politics. practically guaranteed promotions. practically guaranteed pay raises. Very easy to blend in with coworkers. Plenty of company gatherings.

    Cons

Work is easy so non-self starters won't learn much. no company politics = kind of boring. the bar for getting a promotion is very low, but the bar for getting quick promotions is very high. pay raises are based on group success and not on individual success. In general, company life is unexciting and the social atmosphere is quite mellow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing because I think it's the industry that is inherently mellow in nature. Has anybody had a jaw-dropping, pants-soaking experience from discussing HVAC or structure integrity?

    Pros

Nice office location in central CBD.

    Cons

Office has good view out of the window but the desks are small and the office too noisy to work properly.
Senior management are too busy playing the management game and have lost sight on the need to vigorously pursue work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ten years ago PB was a thriving company. It had good line management and was successful in winning and executing high quality work. In the last few years organisation changes have now taken away access to many markets and created a vacuum that the competion is happily filling.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Brisbane (Australia)

    Pros

Good promotion opportunities if the company sells and turns around quickly as many staff at all levels have left or been retrenched

    Cons

Now Balfour Beatty have announced they want to sell PB the uncertainty and likely short term driven decisions will make the atmosphere and working conditions intolerable. The suggested sale price is very high even for a functional organisation so the "in-limbo awaiting sale" phase could be lengthy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell PB promptly so an owner who understands professional service delivery can take over and start repairing the damage.

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

A good place to learn politics and emulate high paying executives / managers role without doing much. This is especially true at Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne offices. The good values of the past have been eroded away with the appointment of young and inexperience managers.

    Cons

There are too many inexperience engineers in recent years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not a good time selling to Atkins or anyone. Time to change those managers who are focusing on useless proposals and ventures.
