I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The only benefit i see is related to stock ownership, which is also dwindling since the company has not been performing well since 08

    Cons

-upper mgmt. is not in touch with ground reality in business
    -extremely averse to risk taking
-upper mgmt. way or the highway
-work in groups, and if you are not a part of the group, goo luck to you
-lacks diversity in thought and color
-frequent changes in upper mgmt. leads to lack of clarity and business model
-no recognition of folks who are actually making $$ for company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

implement company values as advertised on the website, pick out smart folks and give them opportunities to grow, recognize folks who are giving laurels to the firm

I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time

    Pros

There are numerous online training opportunities. The benefits package (vacation, medical and dental premiums) is basic.

    Cons

Career success and advancement is heavily dependent on your relationship with your Functional Manager. There are few opportunities to network if you are seeking project work or experiences in other discipline areas.

I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Some good people still around.

    Cons

No work-life balance. Everyone is expected to be on call and available 7 days a week, including holidays and your 9/80 Friday off. If you are unavailable, even once, you can plan for your name will be on the next lay off list.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dig deep into your Sr. VPs and VPs and their bullying tactics. Motivation by fear and degradation is not a management style.

    Pros

Nationwide. Plenty of opportunities. Need to initiate and look for opportunities in other offices

    Cons

Each managers could vary quite a lot. If you are unlucky to have a bad manager, your career might not advance. If you have a good manager, Parsons has unlimited career opportunities for you.

I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Parsons is employee owned. If you are hired with full benefits they contribute between 8% and15% of your salary to your retirement

    Cons

Big, slow, and bureaucratic. You have to look out for yourself. Management doesn't know or care who you are (after all, they are engineers). No promotions because nobody knows you exist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You really should try to make One Parsons work. Get serious and assign a senior manager to make it work.

I have been working at Parsons Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fairly diverse opportunities around the country with some international opportunities. Some of the management is top-notch and very caring.

    Cons

Bad internal Web portal, poorly management administrative processes, slow reimbursement for business travelers, corporate policies that don't make sense (e.g., must change pw for standard e-mail and corporate portal access every 30 days--even classified networks don't require this), CEO Chuck Harrington is about as average as they come. Annual raises barely keep up with cost of living; NO compensation for outstanding work UNLESS you bring in more contract business. This policy is extremely short-sighted and does nothing to retain good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Study and come to understand how different your new business sectors are from the construction side. Safety is not the top priority for people who hold desk jobs.
