    Pros

    - Strong business model / positioning in the marketplace - No offices = live anywhere you like - Put money where your mouth is (read: many pay-for-results engagements) - Super-smart but grounded colleagues (ex-McKinsey/BCG, without the attitude) - Very fast growth in all regions (translates into promotions) - Little to no politics; laidback culture - Significantly above-market compensation

    Cons

    - Grueling travel - 4 nights/5 days a week is not uncommon - Limited benefits package in the US (but comp. package makes up for it)

    Advice to Management

    - Let employees contribute to 401K in Year 1 - Move to consistent 3 or 4-day travel schedule

    Pros

Very down-to-earth culture (Australia + Mining = no pretense) Similar horsepower to McKinsey but very different politically. Make your clients happy, and you get promoted.

    Cons

Travel can be brutal Work-life balance issues same as McKinsey, BCG, etc.

It is an average experience, as the company focuses on its own good, much more than for the employees

    Pros

Good people. Friendly. Learn a fair deal.

    Cons

Work in very difficult, remote, conditions, where the mines are. Extensive travel involved. Company tight in terms of money and cost reimbursement

    Advice to Management

Learn from what other major management consulting firms do, in terms of how they treat employees, travel schedule, etc.

    Pros

Great comradery and team spirt. You work with some very smart, talented people who know how to get the job done. It is a true meritocracy so if you are good, then you can move up the ranks quickly. If you like to learn rapidly and be out in the field then this is a very good company to work for.

    Cons

Have to be a bit of an adventurer to work for the company. Clients aren't always in the best locations so you have be able to cope with a little discomfort. That being said you won't be short of camp fire / pub stories to tell your mates. Managing an effective work life balance is the hardest part of working for the company especially with all the travel that you are expected to do.

    Advice to Management

Company is growing very fast in some regions. Need to make sure we don't grow too quickly so that the experience base is diluted too quickly.

    Pros

I have worked with intelligent, interesting people from a diverse range of backgrounds. There is the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of work environments and different types of projects. There is the satisfaction of seeing results delivered and the client impressed with what was achieved.

    Cons

Lots of travel and time away from home.

    Pros

Fast growing company (400+ over 20% growth) with really engaged leadership - you get great opportunities, experiences and coaching. Pragmatic hands-on approach to helping clients deliver results - you see $s increase, behaviours improve and happy clients not just reports. Diverse and expanding range of engagements and clients - improving banking ops, refocusing government departments, accelerating high rise construction or getting more diamonds out of the ground.

    Cons

It is consulting so hard work and travel is to be expected but I find it can be managed and the leadership is focused on making it sustainable. Balanced against the benefits and job satisfaction, it works. Some parts of the company still rough around the edges - to be expected with growth and company focused on improving

    Advice to Management

Keep growing especially internationally. Stay focused on delivering bottom line results - really rewarding for all. Retain entrepreneurial culture and celebrate it. Don't overdo the processes. Keep coaching

    Pros

Smart is the price of entry -- learning to be effective is what gets you promoted; No need for BS or director worship. If you show you understand the methodology and can deliver results to the client, you'll be given as much as you can handle. Everyone in the firm is willing to answer questions, provide opportunities and offer advice -- irrespective of title. Directors and Principles are accessible and work alongside the whole team. Diverse practice areas (e.g., aerospace, retail, professional sports) and most work in capital cities.

    Cons

If you need your ego pumped up, this isn't the place -- everyone has world class education and real operating experience; No place to coast or hide ... Firm is too busy (and growing) for anyone not to have real work.

    Advice to Management

Need to get the word out and clarify that PIP has evolved into a global, multi practice management consulting firm that does most of its work in areas other than mining. I'm tired of explaining that I haven't been to a mine the entire time I've been with the firm!

    Pros

A great hands on practical consulting firm that is much more of a partner than a consulting firm. I'm learning about how to make things happen, build a performance culture and deliver results.

    Cons

I'm usually interstate most weeks - bu in capital cities.
