    Negative Outlook

    Pros

The cause of improving K-12 education is a worthy one and what brings most staff to the organization, so you're surrounded by good people overall

    Cons

Lack of strategic direction and organization
Staff are undervalued, work-life balance is non-existent
Organization needs to be more mission-focused and less reactionary
Benefits poor compared to similar organizations

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to take a hard look at management style and philosophy and realize that taking employees for granted does not make for a stable workforce or sustainable goals

  3. Helpful (2)

A place to get experience, but not a long term employment option

    Pros

    Good pay
Management is flexible when the need arises to attend to home/family issues
    Staff are great
Opportunity to make difference by working in K-12 education

    Cons

    Lack of strategic direction
Constantly reacting and responding, not managing and supporting schools like we should
Sometimes feels like we are just a PR machine for the mayor
Management starts you off with a high salary, but then is very stingy with raises. I've personally worked without increased compensation for 2 years. However, all the senior managers have received pay increases once or twice in the last 2 years.
Benefits are poor, especially compared to similar organizations

    Advice to Management

Value your employees by making compensation practices fair across the organization
Get organized and focused, figure out what the mission and strategic direction of the organization are and then work on that
Leaders need to make decisions and stick with them, hold people accountable for doing their job
