I worked at Party City full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced and active (if you are an active person), take complaints and grievances seriuosly, go the extra mile for their customers, give away free balloons to kids.

    Cons

may get injured if you are not comfortable, bruises, cuts, disorganization, lack of integrity, over stock issues.

    Advice to Management

enforce integrity within your management team, enforce honesty, be aware of the mold and broken pipes in the store.

I worked at Party City (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Fun people to work with.

    Cons

You must kiss butt to go anywhere. Hippocratic management. They do one thing, then scold you for doing the same. The corporate office takes day or even weeks to reply to any issues. No promotion from within. Make promises that they never keep. Had been told for years that I'd get promoted to a GM, yet all they do is hire GMs from outside the company. 80% of the time they don't work out. Pure definition of insanity right there. Lots of turnover at several corporate positions. Allow certain managers to get away with things (i.e. steal), but then fire others for innocent mistakes. So many issues. Way too many to list.

    Advice to Management

Head out of your butt. Think before acting.

    Pros

Party City is loads of fun to work for between the balloons and helping to plan parties for customers it keeps you busy and challenged plus the people are great to work with

    Cons

Corporate policies make working for the Francise version very challenging because things are constantly changing and not always for the best

    Advice to Management

Meeting store standards and customers needs are sometimes unrealistic

I worked at Party City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Party City gives employees a fund and great work environment. They are very customer focused and driven, but also promote fun in the workplace.

    Cons

I feel this job does require a fair amount of skills, especially the ability to walk up and talk to anyone about anything and it requires some knowledge of party planning. This may not be a problem for everyone but younger job seekers may want to consider this before applying.

    Advice to Management

Just keep doing what you are doing. This is the only past job I have had that I can honestly say that I miss.

I have been working at Party City full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a fun place to work. Always something to do. You never get board because there's always a new season and new merchandise to sell.

    Cons

The company doesn't provide you with enough hours to run the store successfully. Managers and PT employees need better pay. Need to hire more within the company.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers and employees better so they can move up within the company.
