    Pros

Work/life balance, fair compensation, training, development opportunities, and strong senior leadership.

    Cons

Minority of retail chain is franchised. In general, these locations are not operated as well as the corporate stores. This impairs the brand image.

I have been working at Party City

    Pros

There are no pros for this job. Seasonal workers deserve more then they are given.

    Cons

Seasonal workers deserve so much more. They are underpaid for a lot of work and sometimes checks are not even $100 dollars. I think their advertising for "great pay" and "flexible scheduling" should not be printed on their banner because it's not true at all. Seasonal works are paid minimum wage

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide seasonal workers with better benefits!

I worked at Party City part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Meeting new people, learning retail basics, fun atmosphere, 30% discount, always have something to do, good first job, good pos system

    Cons

Halloween brings a lot of stress, management doesn't always listen to concerns, not enough training, don't have the opportunities you can find in other profession (raises, promotions, ect.)

I have been working at Party City full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Actually get to enjoy holidays( Halloween is their Christmas) , good pay, only 2 nights a week

    Cons

    Hardly ever promote from within
    Nepotism and favoritism are commonplace
Get used to changing things 3 and 4 times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose a path and follow it. It is hard enough to change things, let alone 3 and 4 times. Promote from within instead of hiring from the outside for management positions. You are going to lose good people because there is no communication why people that are falsely promised promotions do not get one.

I have been working at Party City full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment, generally friendly coworkers, samples sales, several holiday parties per year.

    Cons

Management doesn't seem to recognize when you go above and beyond - that is automatically expected. Constant re-doing of work because management changes their minds. Micro-managing/ unrealistic expectations for timelines given. Dates often move up and extra time needs to be put in to accomplish goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More thought should be given to some of the changes demanded at the last minute - if it will ultimately be beneficial to stores, that makes sense but often, the changes are "just because" and create chaos, drastically multiplying workloads for the current project and future projects. Processes need to be streamlined and adhered to by everyone, more discipline for those that are careless or ignore processes - the additional workload created by broken processes is extreme. It should be the exception, not the norm.

I have been working at Party City part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun environment and it's a great place to gain some work experience if you've never held a job before. You can learn a variety of skills such as how to run a cash register, stocking the merchandise, blowing up balloons and learning how to deal with customers face to face.

    Cons

Halloween, which is the biggest time of the year, is an absolute chaotic mess. If you survive October, the other 11 months are a piece of cake.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just continue to find ways to make October as smooth as possible
