I have been working at Party City part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Sometimes you had customers that could make you laugh. Your team tried their best to help out. Finally, it helped out when I started college.

    Cons

Tough customers were common. Training lasted for at least a week even during busy times. Had many rude customers. Did not always get a good manager or helpful team leader due to the fact that they switched around a lot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more willing to get on a cash register when it's busy. Try to get your employees out on time; it's not their fault you had a call or text when you could pull cash drawers for the next cashier to come in. Finally; keep up the good work in defending you employees against rude customers. The customer is NOT always right.

I worked at Party City part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I always have great things to say about working here. First off they trained me super well, not like in other stores where they abandon you on your first day! We had walkies there and managers/supervisors were always available and more than willing to help if ever called. They have lots of patience to train! Second the amount of work load is doable. You are def on your feet all day but it's not so much running around or carrying heavy things. Working at the balloon counter was my favorite part even though your fingers get tired, you get to be creative and see people smile. Cashier is the most boring job there but still, it's simple! answering phone calls is easy as well once you are trained and know how to answer most questions. Of course working during Halloween seems hectic but there's SO MANY new hires to help that you know you won't be left with all of the work. Everyone literally works as a team and sincerely wants to help each other, my kinda place! I'm gonna miss working there! I've worked for other retail stores before and this has definitely been my favorite. i ALWAYS left work happy and NEVER dreaded coming in! pretty crazy to me but it's true, this place was that great! My managers were never too pushy or hard to talk to. Best management I've worked for! I hope to be lucky again!

    Cons

The only reason I can't continue working there is the pay. I live on my own and need to afford rent and what not. If they payed hire, I'd stay there without a doubt!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the awesome work! You guys are great!

I worked at Party City full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The experience and the opportunities they provide. There are so many stores and so many positions to move up on the ladder through.

    Cons

For some people competition is a downfall. In a way party city is a very competitive work environment. You are constantly trying to show your boss why you are the best employee they have.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're not a hard working, clear cut, dedicated manager, like my manager was at the Bryant street location in San Francisco, then I would strive to be more like that.

I have been working at Party City full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Able to work around your schedule

    Cons

I do the Management job for not even $9, clientele are all idiots, Its all based on if you are liked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Even Though i'm one of the "liked" employees its not fair how you treat your people. Overworking for little pay, and shoving any issue aside. Racism runs rampant in this company and others just turn a blind eye to it.

I worked at Party City part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Enjoyed fellow employees. Did learn enough about retail environments for the future.

    Cons

Worked odd hours, got calls to "come in immediately" on days I had off, management extremely unorganized. Customers were rude (not surprising). Poor training. Didn't let you take full breaks. Lead you on about continued employment.

    Pros

I worked here when I was still in school and really enjoyed it. Coworkers were nice. I enjoyed helping customers select items for parties and events.

    Cons

It can go from being super busy (Halloween) to being dead (most other holidays.) The pay is not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Considering raising pay to keep good employees.
