I worked at Pasta Pomodoro part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

fast paced, comfortable environment. good food- leaders definitely could have been more accountable at times in terms of their attention to detail and making sure the staff was trained well and doing their job effectively.

    Cons

corporate structures were a bit annoying when it came to standards and pleasing corporate. definitely need a better review system to take care of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need more training and incentives for employees

    Pros

This food concept created by Adriano Paganini was ahead of its time back in the mid 90s. Good value and quality served in a family friend environment.

    Cons

The challenges of Pasta Pomodoro have very little to do with the current owners or the Company. It's the economy and changes in how people eat post the economic recession.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow the company. Open new stores.

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get a discount on everything on the menu with the exception of seafood, beef, special dinners, or alcohol.

    Cons

Incompetent management who refuse to take responsibility for their leadership decisions, for the lack of comprehensive training, and for stonewalling progress. Management does not back their own team members, rather, they back even the most unreasonable, irate, foul mouthed, and intoxicated customers instead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not keep your head in the sand and ignore what is going on; and look around you! There is much to be done! There is so much to improve upon. Read a few books on leadership, become transparent and open to new ideas, admit your mistakes, stop backstabbing, discard your passive aggressive behavior, build a sense of camaraderie with the team so that people actually look forward to returning, give those working there a sense of purpose and ensure that people know that their contribution matters and cannot be easily done away with at the swipe of a time card, and give entry level servers the opportunity to move up the chain of command. Management is rarely hired from within, and are generally poor leaders. I learned more in my three months of my current position in law enforcement than I did in my twenty-four months at Pasta Pomodoro.

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good, quality people for the most part. Line-level staff is usually friendly and responsive. Salaries are decent. Food for manager is free. Regional and CEO are knowledgeable and approachable.

    Cons

Management under relentless pressure to hit goals. Goals are unrealistic. Benefits are staggeringly bad, BOH pays for daily meals, no retirement plan for managers. "Support center" staff is mostly incompetent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow through on your promises. Have reasonable, achievable goals.

Tips are great and the hours are short. Great neighborhood and great regular customers for the most part.

    Cons

Lack of organization and leadership from management

    Pros

Great learning experience, great recipes *(at one point), wonderful people, loyal following.

    Cons

Hostile work environment due to dysfunctional senior leadership. Growth for employees is unfair and unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great learning experience, great people, baaad leadership!! I could go on forever but i'll just say that this company had so much promise and I am sad to see it in such horrible shape. Great companies start from the top and the people at the top are human.

I have been working at Pasta Pomodoro

    Pros

It is very easy. People generally like the food.

    Cons

Rules and standards are always changing. The steps of service change weekly making it very hard to abide by all the rules. It is stupid that bread is served before drinks, what if someone chokes? All the rules make it difficult to ensure guest satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a system you like and stay with it. No two tables are the same, there should be more flexibility in the steps of service.

    I worked at Pasta Pomodoro

    Pros

reasonably good food for half off (though at other restaurants the staff eat for free). Good location with lots of parking and nearby shops.

    Cons

The unhappy servers made me depressed to go to work everday, the patrons treated the waiters like dirt and tipped poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hire happier people, who want to work there, not people who feel like life screwed them over and complain about everything
