Overall a good experience, but not a good company to make a career out of.

I worked at Patheon Pharmaceuticals as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Flexibility in work hours, good learning experience, friendly co-workers

    Cons

Everybody seems very unhappy, older employees say everything has gone down-hill

A lot of change but no understanding of proper implementation and effect of changes

I have been working at Patheon Pharmaceuticals

    Pros

Friendly people, good benefits, many changes that could pay off at some point in the future but right now are resented by most employees

    Cons

Low pay, terrible bonus/raises, management makes changes to processes that causes production staff to lose what meager bonus and raise they were eligible for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are a lot of frustrated employees right now who have experienced change that has effected them in a negative manner. Do proper research before implementation of changes in processes looking at LONG TERM effects. There was a pay for performance program implemented last year that ended up being the same as previous programs just with different paperwork. You must reward high performing employees or you will lose them to higher paying, higher performing companies.

I have been working at Patheon Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

There are scores of highly talented and motivated individuals across their global sites. The management team had made a strong push to unify the corporate culture, value system and level of quality for their varied operations

    Cons

As with any large corporation, there are many changing and competing agendas in constant motion that often made it difficult to follow through on commitments to clients

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know your clients' business and encourage employees to be their advocates.

I worked at Patheon Pharmaceuticals as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Great learning environment for students. The co-op program was very well structured and you learn a lot about the industry.

    Cons

Lower pay compared to other companies in the industry. Can be hard to actually get work done. Lots of band-aid solutions instead of solving the root problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more capital in maintaining/upgrading the site and equipment. The Cincinnati site is one of the better performing sites, yet receives less capital than most.

I worked at Patheon Pharmaceuticals as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

People are friendly. The work is not difficult and is easily learned. It is a company that someone could definitely work for their entire career.

    Cons

At times the work is boring. At the time I was there, they were trying to make the company more efficient but the opposite occurred. Perhaps that has changed or will change with time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to the people who work for you.

I have been working at Patheon Pharmaceuticals full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Flexible hours, good benefits, great vacation benefits.

    Cons

No opportunity for growth. Too many old timers in management, need new fresh ideas and more young people. (this is from someone who is 53 years old). Resist change, pessimistic attitude. Ridiculous customer demands met,(if one company says we want everyone to wear red t-shirts we will do it and then if the next customer says wear blue t-shirts we will do it.) HR is a joke, they are there to work for the managers, the workers are so below them. Worker favoritism to the max.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of your offices, quit micro managing, praise and reward your employees, be honest about what's going on in the company. Really take a close look at your department managers, honesty is not their policy and a save their own butt attitude at the cost of their dept members integrity.
