    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

High pay. Decent benefits. Profit Sharing.

    Cons

After Schlumberger bought them out, there seemed to be no regard for the employees. We were routinely treated as just a number by the corporate office. Work life balance was skewed drastically towards work. Schlumberger didn't care about personal life and routinely took away opportunities for management to give employees days off.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

PathFinder (before acquisition by Smith and later by Schlumberger) used to have a very positive R&D environment. Management was committed to attracting and retaining talents and the compensation package showed. There was minimal bureaucracy. Management process was kept personable. People were friendly and satisfied.

    Cons

At times engineers might feel they were held too tightly to tried-and-true methodology. Also, being a "small" company ("small" compared to Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, or Halliburton) with no more than a few new projects at a time, sometimes staffing was underutilized.

    Advice to Management

Come up with longer term technology plan to utilize your talents and afford them more freedom. Give them more feedback and engage them more into thinking more about their own career development path.

The company offers competitive salaries and benefits. Opportunities are good and challenging. Team work opportunities are plenty and customer interaction is well promoted.

    Cons

Career growth is slow. performance is evaluated based not only on individual but also team output, which may be detrimental for your personal growth.

    Advice to Management

Offer more transparency and communication between upper and mid-level management to improve expectations. Better focus is also needed on retention.
