Pros
Excellent training facilities
Good support for peers, subordinates and immediate superiors
Good work life balance
Cons
Does not have a well defined technical growth path
Management needs to be more dynamic and show long term thought leadership
Management should be willing to invest from a long term perspective and be willing to take short term losses
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to be more dynamic and show long term thought leadership
Management should be willing to invest from a long term perspective and be willing to take short term losses
Pros
My coworkers are generally friendly and helpful. Patni permits time off for family reasons with no problems. There are bonuses which are paid quarterly for some positions which are based on revenue goals. Supervisors are generally friendly and helpful. Paid Time Off (PTO) policy has improved recently in that employees get additional PTO sooner rather than after 5 yrs of employment. Other benefits are probably average when compared to their competitors.
Cons
Benefits:
The PTO policy still does not usually permit accumulated time from one year to be carried over to the next. The sick days and vacation days are lumped together. In this regard, employees need to save some time for the end of the year in case they get sick. It is better to have a separate "sick time" catagory with an incentive to not use it. E.g. 10 days sick time available, the first five of which are paid to the employee as an additional bonus at the end of the year if not used. There are no policies for cost of living adjustments ( all salary increases are performance based, however the bar for performance increases is very high).
Advice to Senior Management
PTO and sick leave should be separated. The current policy of grouping sick leave with vacation leave forces employees to save some for the end of the year
Pros
Great learnings
Recognition to work is good
Cons
Poor Compensation and employee perks
Advice to Senior Management
Need to increase salaries as per industry standards
Pros
Good salary and compensation package, good working environment, colleagues and support groups are helpful. Good career growth prospects and take up leadership position
Cons
Appraisal and promotion process is biased. Criteria is not well defined. Company made best use of recession during 2009 and 2010
Advice to Senior Management
Need to be polite. They are very arrogant. People who are not good at technical skills and are of no use become seniors.
Pros
- The workplace is quite young and hence we organise a lot of social occasions like christmas and diwali functions
Cons
- Inability to ramp up and rotate team members in projects. Some of them work forever in projects eg. GE Money
- Inability to train people before putting them in projects. Patni hires people out of training institutes and asks some junior software engineer to take up production level jobs. In GE Money , this is how it works all the time with bogus resumes for clients
- Inability to provide medical leave to employees. Most of the people just have a single leave bucket. No separate leaves even if the employee is ill.
- Inability to retain talent. Most of the team members leave after gaining experience. Example, in GE money so far 4 team leads and 2 project managers have resigned in the last 2 months. This means people with no experience in leading are now leading teams
- Making people stay with money received before hand. A lot of people are staying because they have 50 K locked for 3 years which they receive only on clearing the level exams.
- Absolutely no security for girls - made to work on holidays with no security and made to travel with no escort in rented cabs. No drop to house or pick up from house as well in the holidays.
Advice to Senior Management
Since iGate is now buying the company, no one will stay if you do not take a serious look at the policies like making people work for long hours - especially girls like me - without any breaks and making them travel to work with no escort. Rotation in projects/ skills , getting the right people as project managers is also important. since they are the reason most of the people are leaving.
Pros
Good for Freshers to get entry in IT
Cons
Less salary
No Salary increments
Pathetic Senior management
No appreciation
HR are not helpful.
Policies are bad. No other benefits other than salary
Advice to Senior Management
Increase Salary.
Don't play politics with employee
Pros
Company transport very good.
Good for freshers..get to learn good technical skills
Cons
HR is management friendly...don't care about any concerns reported by employees
Appraisals are biased. To grow make sure you are part of your manager's favorite people's gang.
Salary is very less. Fresher and 5 year experience resource earn the same.
Onsite opportunities are biased.
Advice to Senior Management
Start appreciating existing professional work force.
Pay salary to existing employees as per market standards
Have rotations in onsite. Don't permanently post people in US...think about offshore.
Listen to employees too...don't take decisions entirely on manager's feedback.
Pros
good exposure to work..only good at initial phases of your carrer
Cons
no appreciation, no praise, only donkey work, compensation is zero
Advice to Senior Management
please connect with lower management people so that they will understand why people are leaving patni
Pros
1. Located in Mumbai
2. Has very good Transport System
3. Opportunities to learn (depends on Project)
Cons
1. Poor compensation
2. Poor Appraisals
3. No project training for people newly joining a project.
4. Managers attitudes towards employees is very bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Think Global. Be Global.
Pros
- Only good for Fresher ( because they do not have any choice)
Cons

- 1 year exp guy do same work as the person has 7 years of exp ( very Funny Managment)
-Onsite only for those who are close to management
- Senior managemnet has very thick skin
- No Retention policy for good employees
Advice to Senior Management
Senior managemnt should think in broad way and shoudl think for benefit for individual and same for company - Should look for long term goal
