Cons
was in a start up at the time tough to work through
Advice to Senior Management
keep doing what you are doing
Pros
Opportunity to work hard and advance career
Cons
Would like to see more aggressive advancement into peripheral industries to drive growth
Advice to Senior Management
Acquire more innovative companies that would expand our offerings
Pros
Great training and a great place to gain experience
Cons
Could raise base pay on experience
Pros
Great learning environment! Paychex will teach you everything you need to know about your position. You are constanly in trainings to make sure you are up-to-date on the new payroll tax laws.
Cons
The pay does not equal to the workload. That is the majority of payroll companies recruit from Paychex. The know Paychex employees know payroll, but are easily entised by a few more thousand dollars a year.
Advice to Senior Management
The only advice that I will provide to management is to pay their employees more. The old pay models probably worked in the 60's or 70's, but now is the time to adjust it! If not, you will not have any quality employees working at Paychex.
Pros
401k is great, and the time off is amazing. Very good training and support to earn raises. Benefits make this job.
Cons
There is no room for advancement within the company. The corporate execs are working toward consolidating the branches, so if you are thinking of taking a position make sure that you apply to a large branch.
Pros
Great benefits package. They encourage healthy living and give discounts and cash back for accomplishing healthy living goals throughout the calendar year. The training is instense and consistent, but it gives us the opportunity to be prepared. They try and accomodate everyday life situations...PTO if needed, paid community service time, alternate working hours, transfers to other branches, etc.
Cons
Senior management has been with the company FOREVER, so the opportunities for advancement into management positions are very far and few in between. When they do come up, it's a blood bath to get them. Even though we are encouraged to apply for other positions within the company, it seems like the selection process has a "most popular" feel to them at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Let the branches have a little more say in the dress code. The company is very strict with the dress code being that the President is more conservative and traditional. However sometimes dress policies in say New York aren't good for people in San Diego. The weather is different and so is the clientel.
Pros
Paychex has a vast amount of opportunities for growth and promotion. The salaries can start a little low, but there is a six month review where the employee can get a raise and then every year in August we have performance reviews and you can receive raises. The benefits are great! They emphasize a healthy workplace by offering to reimburse 75 dollars a year for an excersize related item and they also reimburse for school if it is related.
I highly recommend Paychex as it cares about employees and clients.
Cons
No real cons, as with any large organization it is a fairly high hierarchy but with opportunites becoming available all the time.
Pros
Love the interaction with clients.
Cons
Low salary for comparable industry jobs
Advice to Senior Management
more headcount to be able to give the best customer service experience.
Pros
Paychex constantly provides opportunities for self-enrichment and advancement within the company. They make sure that all staff is trained to perform their job. This industry is demanding and requires all employees to stay up-to-date with all federal and state requirements and as quickly as each can change, Paychex makes it a priority to keep all HUBS in compliance.
I can honestly say that I knew what I was getting into when I accepted my last promotion. Long hours, long days sitting in my car driving and constant stress and roadblocks that surface during client trainings and visits, but knowing I did MY part in a successful client's payroll experience makes it all worth it.
Yes with the economy the way it's been the last few years, Paychex did stop matching to 401k and didn't provide merit increases for a year or so; however, we still had steady employment. I'm "the glass is half full" kind of person, there is always something positive to be taken even if the experience seems negative. Too many posts on here are casting negativity towards management without actually realizing the stresses that are put upon the supervisors to make sure that all clients are handled successfully. So when I see a person complaining about the 300 clients they have on their schedule and not enough hours in the day to complete everything, I think about their supervisor who has 4 Payroll Specialists and multiply that by 300 and see that the manager actually has 1,200 clients to keep happy.
Cons
There does appear to be some issues with the ever-changing online products and upgrades to our software; however, IT does what it can to fix the problems as quickly as possible. That doesn't eleviate the stress a client feels for a broken product, but unfortunately, we are all at the mercy of technology sometimes, clients understand this.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you are doing. Keep providing encouragement to employees and thanks for making my experience with Paychex a great one!!!!
Pros
I love working for Paychex because you have the opportunity to learn so much and work with very interesting clients. The training department is phenomenal and eager to teach those who want to learn. You can definitely grow with the company as they provide great leadership training and tools to help you succeed. The employees who work at Paychex are like a family to me. They are some of my best friends and we all genuinely support each other.
Cons
Like all companies, each branch and division has their own respective manager. I have been fortunate to have had great people to work with. Ultimately service comes down to the people who are servicing accounts and not all are the best. However, the good people heavily out way the bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Paychex should listen to their employees more; set up branch think tanks to share ideas and create processes for improvement.
