Former Employee – worked at Paychex full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The management team was incredible in the area I worked in. They also focused a lot on growth and development.
Cons – Sometimes the hours were long which provided for little work life balance. The management team was good about allowing for additional time off during the slower times of the year.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to listen to your employees

Former Employee – worked at Paychex full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Paychex provides you with everything that you need to become successful in a sales orginization. cell phone, client lists, and support.
Cons – As an HR solutions representative the ramp up time may take a while since you will be learing all of the high level and details aspects of HR. Once you get familiar with the product and value proposition, your success should be imiminent. Just work hard and check your ego at the door.
Advice to Senior Management – Pair up your new employees with your top level sales representatives if you want to shorten the ramp up time. The problem is how do you incentivise your rockstars to do so? I can garauntee that if you do a business analysis by using the strategy that it will result in great profits for the orginization.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time for more than a year
Pros – As a current Paychex employee, I can proudly say what a rewarding experience my career has been. I have worked for several other companies, and the management is top notch. I take personal offense to the review that called them "laughable", because I truly believe they have made me a better, more successful salesperson and employee. As a working mom, they have been encouraging, supportive and realistic. I have literally never had a better management team. In addition, I have experience working for two separate Paychex locations. I can say, without a doubt, that the denver teams and sales office is a positive, fun place to be. There will always be those few people that try to bring the rest of the group down with their negativity, but as salespeople, you have control over your own destiny. As a salesperson, you have control over your attitude, your environment, and just as importantly, your income. The harder you work, the more money you will make. The base may be lower than some, but I went into sales to EARN my money, not have it given to me. There are plenty of positions in Paychex where you can go to work every morning and make a decent salary by showing up and doing the same tasks every day.
The beauty of this job, is that every day is different, every client is a unique situation, and every sale is a personal accomplishment. The territories are also very different, and the reps are chosen based on their individual personalities and skills, which helps each person succeed. It is obvious that a lot of time and effort go into choosing the best person for each team and territory. If there is turnover, it is because salespeople tend to have personalities that drive them - always looking for the next high (sale/accomplishment), change of scenery, etc. it is easy to get caught up in the 'grass is always greener" scenario, but successful people stick with their goal and work hard to get there. Paychex allows you to do this, if you are willing to do your job and work for it.
Finally, I agree with the disgruntled employee that Denver South is a phenomenal team. The people and manager make me want to work harder and make my team proud. However, I would be honored to work for any of the three teams. Each team has an atmosphere and qualities that make them unique. It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to work with a team that best fits our personality. With that said, go Team South!
Cons – There is a large amount of paperwork that goes into each sale, which can be burdensome.
There is quite a bit of competition in the market, which can make some sales difficult.
Some territories are spread out, and you have to very disciplined with your time management.
Advice to Senior Management – Send potential employees on more field rides with teammates. This will provide opinions from reps who are in the field more often, and possibly a more realistic view of candidates.
Communicate all possible changes and issues, before rumors begin. Address rumors openly, and encourage honest communication about training, guidelines, standards and policies. Continue to treat reps as equal partners in the decision making processes.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time
Pros – They care about their employees and they care about their customers. Great benefits, no layoffs, no arbitrary changes every other week. Stable, consistant professional work environment.
Cons – Salary and commission structure is causing massive turnover in the sales divisions.
Advice to Senior Management – Reduce turnover of the top 50%-30% of your sales force by matching the compensation of Paychex's main competitors.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The experience at Paychex truly is what you make it. The benefits and pay are slightly less than competitive, but the opportunities to advance internally are myriad. Take advantage of the training and professional development and you'll succeed.
Cons – The culture is old-blood corporate, and the technology is generally playing catch up. But as of this writing (3/13) things appear to be changing.
Advice to Senior Management – Accept change; look for new ideas; fail fast, and often, but learn and improve with each failure.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time for more than a year
Pros – Flexibility is huge, as long as you are doing the daily activity-and SELLING, you can pretty much do what works for you. The pay is great when you MEET and EXCEED quota! Also, I think the best part is the relationships and different people you experience, night and day from my last position! Overall, great company, training and resources!!
Cons – Not for the timid or the lazy...I think a more cohesive operations/Corporate connect to the Sales side would help, but definitely not a huge issue. Overall if you work hard, you will be rewarded, intriscally and extrinsically.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time for more than a year
Pros – Freedom to work your business/territory in the best manner that works for you whether it be networking / relationship building or the traditional telemarketing / cold calling. As long as you are working hard, hitting your numbers, and providing a high level of service to your clients there is minimal micro-managing (however help from managers is always available when needed!). Great variety in your days and no cap on earning potential.
Cons – At times there can be a lot of paperwork and neccessary follow up for getting a sale turned in.

Current Employee – been working at Paychex full-time for less than a year
Pros – Great company to work for - I've been here a few months but love the people I work with, the enviornment is great, and love what I do. I believe in the product and services offered and am proud of the fact that this company is rated as "Most ethical company to work for" - this is important to me on a personal and professional level.
Cons – Interview process was a longer than I expected but at the end of the day it gave time to me and to the company to make sure we are both making the right decision. For me, this is a career move so I'm glad I had the time to explore and research thoroughly before coming on board.
Advice to Senior Management – more holidays off would be nice.
