I have been working at Paychex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ethical stable company. Seems to be on the right track product and tech wise. Great benefits.

    Cons

Pay is low. Can be very stressful. Some micro management and lack of flexibility. Work life balance can improve. Some areas embrace work from home while others are against it. A lot of change. Sometimes it seems like they are making it up as they go along. Need to improve execution and communication of strategy and changes.

    Advice to Management

Remember employees are greatest resource and pay them appropriately. Communicate better when changes happen. Create project plans with resources to manage all aspect of significant changes and initiatives. Do something about the managers that need to change.

I have been working at Paychex full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the better health plans available to major companies. Relaxed environment where collaboration is encouraged. Company is honestly trying to better itself so you will be asked your opinion often and changes take effect relativity quick. Freedom to control your book of clients the way you see fit and there isn't a lot of micro-managing.

    Cons

The job is stressful and high paced. You must be very patient and learn extremely quickly while maintaining a professional demeanor. The starting pay proportionate to the amount of responsibility and stress, but if you do the training necessary to advance position, the pay is better.

    Advice to Management

Make starting pay higher! Just because this is Albuquerque we make so much less than other branches, not looking for the $19 starting like California, but definitely more than $12,

I worked at Paychex full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paychex had the best benefits of any company I'd ever worked for. The training was incredible; I never felt unequipped to answer client questions or properly do my job.

    Cons

The workload became overwhelming at the fall of the economy. Employees were stressed and overworked. I don't know if anything has changed since I left.

Return to focus on employee satisfaction and client satisfaction will follow. Will also increase employee retention and save cost of new hire onboarding.

    Pros

Plently of opportunities if you hit your quotas for the year, fun environment

    Cons

With any sales job, things are constantly changing. While there are supposed to be plenty of opportunities if you hit every matrix, things don't always work out, or they want more experience etc. Some supervisors will make up any excuse why you weren't a great fit for the job posted.

    Pros

    Interesting, challenging work; opportunities for advancement; strong divisional and senior management; comprehensive training and development programs; solid benefits; good building and workplace initiatives; strong ethical commitment;

    Cons

Salaries quite low compared to market; inconsistency within company with job titles, salaries and access to bonus programs; challenges in procuring IT resources for necessary initiatives; minimal interaction with executive leadership

    Advice to Management

Reconsider strategy to keep salaries low, as this negatively impacts employee engagement and may backfire when economy improves and people have other opportunities; increased visibility for executive leadership
