    Fun place to work

    I worked at Pearl Izumi

    Pros

Coworkers were fun and athletic. Products technology and quality is improving significantly (which is impressive given Pearl's current reputation). Management appreciated employee ideas and input

    Cons

Work got a little repetitive for my taste, but thats probably more a factor of the field than the company (sales)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep improving the product

I worked at Pearl Izumi full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work environment is located in a wonderful new modern building outside of Denver....

    Cons

Set a direction and get focused. Pearl Izumi needs to get a handle on their business, apparel is OK but footwear is a mess. Starts with upper management and works its way down, very hard to innovate as China seems to be running the show and development is caught in the middle. Management seems to be helpless.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tear down the road blocks and let the employees do what they do best, there are a lot of great jobs out there and if you want to attract and hold on to the best talent you should begin addressing the issues.

I worked at Pearl Izumi (less than an year)

    Pros

Pearl Izumi makes sure their employees are fed - at least once a week there would be something going on where food was provided for employees. It's a very laid back work environment as well. Employees would take 1 hr+ lunches or casually watch youtube videos with large groups throughout the day. It was also acceptable to leave the office whenever you felt like it or work from home as you liked. However, food and a casual work environment do not create a strong company.

    Cons

There is no room for growth due to the poor budget Pearl is working with. Furthermore, I was told I would eventually move up only to have menial responsibilities added to my job description. These were worse than what I was responsible for in an internship. Look elsewhere for a company that can fully utilize and expand on your skills.

There is also disfunction between upper level management and other employees. Needs of employees were not being met and this was clear in the multiple discussions I had overheard between prominent employees in the company. These employees had poor company morale which opened my eyes to all the negative things about Pearl.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because everyone seems happy, does not mean they are. Seriously consider getting a hold of the budget and gaining an understanding of how employees actually feel.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Very relaxed and creative environment with an opportunity to grow. Definitely one of the best retailers to work for.

    Cons

Most stores are located in an outlet mall. The hours stretch late into the night. Would be better to work in a mall.

I have been working at Pearl Izumi

    Pros

Work schedules are usually quite flexible. Working with athletically minded people helps to keep yourself fit. Employee discounts are satisfactory.

    Cons

Senior management is incompetent and doesn't respond to employee suggestions. Unwilling or unable to accept changes in modern retail and to support social media initiatives. Not adept at tapping the talents of its Sales Associates.
