I have been working at Pearson Education India full-time

    Pros

Nothing except not too bad work life balance.

    Cons

The work environment is extremely negative at this point due to lack of clarity in roles and uncertainty continuing for 3 years. Redundancies being made after acquisition of sick companies at very high price. No transparency and people at top management level are playing their own agenda in name of restructuring and making money for themselves. No one seems to be focused on organization growth and it's highly political. Favoritism seems to be plaguing the place.

I have been working at Pearson Education India full-time for more than a year

    Pros

swanky office, aseptic environment, excellent HR practices till August 2012

    Cons

Top heavy organization. Whimsical CEOs and upper management. CEOs and Directors come & go, some forecast unrealistic prospects and go on a spending spree making a fortune for themselves in the process, while others resort to extreme retrenchment tactics. The average employee continues to be at the mercy of their line managers. Leaves are there on records but you can't enjoy them.

Superficial atmosphere. Incompetent managers who save their backs by blaming their subordinates. Highfliers don't give a rat's ass for what happens to the organization. They just treat it as a launchpad and milk it dry.

The school editorial particularly the ELT department is full of unhappy hags and wenches who are busy scandalizing each other. The Higher Ed is dying. No more is there dignity at work.

It has one of the best sales force in publishing and education services. But the company's policies like acquiring sick companies at high prices and shifting loyalties is weakning its very foundation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just be honest & treat the organization with respect. The so called Education Services and Digitization bubble will soon burst and it will be back to good old publishing. Books can never be phased out. Don't cash in too much on English Language Teaching. It's just a language for Christ sakes! Don't cut back on employee benefits. If you want to make up for losses just introspect.

I have been working at Pearson Education India full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work-life balance, mostly. It is a place where you will learn a lot of things as young people are given a lot of opportunities to do things on their own.

    Cons

Senior management lacks vision, and it is a very top heavy structure. The HR department in India is biased, high-handed and unfair.
