    Pros

The existing Peer 1 people are mostly good. The culture WAS good but is being overtaken by a much more corporate and bureaucratic one. The former VP People was exited which was a plus as she was terrible. If you're looking for an entry level position, it would be fine but anyone senior should keep looking.

    Cons

Very little communication and it seems like none of the senior management really know what they're doing. The company is currently merging with another Cogeco owned company and most of the management structure has been exited. Everyone lives under a cloud of wondering when they'll be let go. Senior Management is micro-managing every decision.

    Advice to Management

Offer some long term vision in the hope of retaining some of your above average employees. Otherwise, you'll be left with poor performers and those wanting severance packages.

    Pros

I really like the people I work with. Fun work environment. This used to be an awesome place to work.

    Cons

The merger with Cogeco Data Services is not going well. A lot of great people have lost their jobs. No one is telling us anything and everyone is unsure about the future. It feels less like a merger and more like a hostile takeover. Hopefully things will be better once the dust settles, but I am not confident about the changes. I think it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

    Advice to Management

    Don't know where to start.

    Pros

None, customer has been flushed down the drain.

    Cons

Low wages, not nearly as fun to work for as when I started.
    Management has no clue
    Executives are clueless as well.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone in management and start over. Bring wages up to match market.

    Pros

There used to be a really fun atmosphere, great culture and great people. Things are changing so these are not pros that I would want potential employees to expect. Of the people that remain, there are some great people to work with. The main pro is that this is a job and you get a paycheck.

    Cons

Currently going through a merger with a more conservative Canadian company so culture and core values are pretty much gone. Former leadership (that cared about the employees) is gone and new management has come in making changes and are against the old culture. People are very disengaged and stay fearful of their managers seeing them enjoy their job or their co-workers or of getting laid off, so it creates a negative work environment.

    Advice to Management

invest more in your employees, treat them with respect and dignity

    Pros

I found during my time there that the culture was a breath of fresh air. People are friendly, supportive and great at what they do. The benefit package was pretty good - a 4% match on RSP and average group ins coverage. Salary rates also decent.

    Cons

Felt there was a disconnect between the HR or PP dept and employees. Didn't feel the PP rep in the office really knew how to handle situations.

    Pros

Unbelievable culture within a warm and very supportive environment. New leadership is bringing new ideas, new innovation and welcome changes. Company sponsored monthly engagement opportunities give employees a chance to bond outside of the office. Refinements in training are bringing more formal training to all roles and clear career paths are being created and defined.

    Cons

Not everyone is held to the same level of accountability which can sometimes lead to friction or disconnect. Multiple offices in North America make it hard (at times) to get things done quickly as you play phone and email tag with other departments.

    Advice to Management

Continue listening to our customers to define what our products, marketing, support and innovation should look like. We've finally started to engage our customers in these types of conversations - let's keep doing it more and more.

    Pros

If you are in the Jr. High boys club in San Antonio then you will fit it nicely.

    Cons

This company is run by a leadership team (I use that term loosely) that has a frat boy mentality. They have not introduced a new product in 2.5 years and are churning customers faster than they acquire new ones. This is the worst job I have ever had. The leadership team sent instructions for everyone to come on this site on put in a good review whether you like the company or not. This was followed up every week until they got the number they wanted. Sad!

    Advice to Management

Instead of having employees try to patch a problem... Fix it yourselves. That's why you were hired!
