Pros

Cons

Tough processses to follow
Advice to Senior Management
Promote from within
Pros
Management empowers individuals to make decisions. Always open to new ideas. Wages are average. Supports work / life balance. Safe place to work.
Cons
Raises are not representative of your efforts and achievements. They only vary by a few tenths of a percent from the "A" players to the "C" players. Lack trust in middle management decision making.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward your "A" players. Talk to people making things happen and not what their manager's, manager's, manager says. Focus on what's important in keeping the business profitable.
Pros
Great product and educational resources. Management does not micro manage, however salesman are given high sales objectives. Company tries to treat their employees well.
Cons
A few employees tended take advantage of the laid back management style. Some of the employees positions are subject to long off season layoff.
Advice to Senior Management
You can run so lean and mean for only so long , sometimes it would be better to try to hang on to proven performers a little longer
Pros
Great Co workers in Showroom with a great Product. Great Name and Brand Regonition for the area. Family atmosphere stressed.
Cons
No communication from immediate supervisor. No feedback on performance. Thrown in situations where you make mistakes because of no training on the basics.
Advice to Senior Management
Give New Employees a Fair Chance to Learn the Company and Products. Do not just let people go after just 7 days of employment during the Christmas and New Year Break.
Pros
Very respectful work environment. Well grounded in respect for the employees. Very few poor managers. Almost all treat the people well. Very safe community to live in, but costly for the size and location of the town.
Cons
Company very risk avert. Poor attention to quality. Cost and ontime delivery drive most decisions. The customer who purchases the product is the last thing considered in this company.
Design process requires multiple people to approve changes and is very slow. One person saying no can stop a design unless it saves the company $, then nothing can stop it. They are not flexible about change. Slow to respond to the field complaints. Designs are classic but not much true innovation. Managers are mostly "home grown" and therefor do not have external experience.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to accept more risk and change much faster or be left behind. Revisit the values the company was founded on (quality and people). Listen to the customer and respond very fast to their issues.
Pros
Great benifits, flexible work schedule, for the most part good middle management.
Cons
Almost 25% price increases this year, in this economey, completley unrealistic. Distribution through Lowes and Contractors puts them at a 30-50% price advantage
Advice to Senior Management
Run this division lean and mean.........drop all un-nessasary expenditures, lower commissions if you have to, downsize people to get to a competative price offering.
Pros
Friendly and professional work environment
Great direct sales manager
Gave tools or expense account to get the job done
Took care of the end user/customer
nice perks when it came to training events at corporate office
excellent lunches from the college on special events --- good use of community
Cons
district managers need ethics training
micro managing on their largest account
put their eggs in one basket with one big box
analyzed too much which led to paralysis
role played during training sessions and didnt see that not all employees learn in that fashion
asked for feedback on everything but did not make changes quick enough
diversity
keep stale, status quo people in positions that should have been asked to part ways
Advice to Senior Management
Work on Continuous Improvement at the Management level this is 2011 get with the future of selling globally and branching out to other Big Box retailers
Pros
Company does a lot for the workers
Cons
No progression at management level
Advice to Senior Management
I would have to say to management that they need to look at investing in full cures and fixing things rather than just easy fixes.
Pros
Opportunity for advancement by picking where YOU would like to work within the company.
Cons
Communication levels are fuzzy at times, easy fixes are left how is.
Advice to Senior Management
Fix the little things
Pros
Many good high end products
Cons
Very poor reaction time to problems from corporate. Very laden with employee's connection to on line website to document all activity
