I worked at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art

    Pros

Continuing Ed department is great to work with, lots of room to design courses and they're open to new ideas for workshops. Department also really forward thinking and looking to expand their offerings. Good salary.

    Cons

no benefits as an adjunct. also, classes don't run if registration is low. so no guarantees. otherwise, great place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand the curriculum in the certificate program.

I worked at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Most of the people at PAFA are great, you just aren't sure of their intentions. It is a well known institution, which is nice for networking and resume building.

    Cons

People can be a bit snaky, just keep your head down and do your work. Everything is the last minute, so be prepared for no warning with projects and then rush to the finish line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more supportive of staff. Raises would be nice. Don't be so secretive about everything and make people feel like they are on the chopping block all of the time.

If you're not a male or a yes-man, prepare to be frustrated and underpaid.

I worked at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art

    Pros

Basically, it's a known entity, but that's only because it's been around for so long. You can only coast for so long on that.

    Cons

No raises on some years, miniscule on others. It has nothing to do with performance - it's so-called 'cost of living'.
All promotions have been given to males.
You will be expected to do everying; there is no prioritization nor method to the madness. If you question, you will be labeled as 'difficult' and will be on the fast-track out the door.
