    Pros

Great benefits, reasonable schedule, small teams. Hours of work are reasonable, and generally don't exceed 40 per week except in special circumstances.

    Cons

HR department doesn't follow the consistency they preach; too many political considerations have to go into mundane decisions.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Don't sit up in your offices and expect your underlings to do the things you won't do correctly yourselves.

    Pros

Great benefits when you are full time. Pay was more than any other child care in the area for a substitute. The staff at the CLC are great to work with.

    Cons

Since they are a 4 star facility, you must have a bachelor's degree to move to the lead teacher position, or you will be in a substitute or assistant position permanently. Staff rarely leave, so there are rarely openings for full time. Pay is based on other centers, not on the College as a whole. If you are part time, the college itself only allows you to work 25 hours or less, so you cannot hold two different positions if you are classified as part time because of the hour restrictions.

    Pros

Good reputation for academics in certain specialties
    Decent salaries and benefits
    Vacation time flexibility
Tuition waivers for employee and family
Great opportunities for professional development if proactive
Great networking with business and industry

    Cons

Subject to inconsistent funding if not in a unionized position
Interoffice and college politics if you are not a conformist
Promotion subject to desires of leadership versus actual established interview process (if your boss feels threatened by your abilities or popularity with others you will not advance!)

    Advice to Management

Intent of organization's protocols and policies are good. Using them when convenient versus a consistent application to all creates division amongst the masses and frustrated team members.

    Pros

Incredible benefits with plenty of vacation days (which you'll need)

    Cons

Micro managed by too many managers. You'll spend your whole day doing nothing but filling out daily reports and explaining yourself to 3 managers, and assistant director and the director. For being a technology college can't understand why people would want to use anything but Windows and makes fun of linux and mac users behind their backs.

    Advice to Management

    take some management courses

    Pros

The benefits are excellent and the president, Davie Gilmour, has done a terrific job of handling things with the tightening of the higher education budgets in PA and with communicating with employees to eliminate fear and concern. It is not a research school so it is great for those people more interested in teaching than research.

    Cons

There is still a stigma of the former community college environment surrounding the school which can make it difficult to get recognition outside of the college as a professor in a Bachelor's degree program. It is not a research school, so it could be difficult moving to another 4-yr institution in certain fields.

    Cons
