I have been working at Penske Truck Leasing full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Decent salaries for the Berks County area, opportunities in many different departments, solid work life balance, 401k match and cash balance account, and it's nearly impossible to get fired no matter how much you underperform
Cons – Lack of fresh thinking, low salaries (if you're from outside Berks County), old technology, slow to make changes, poor personnel development
Advice to Senior Management – Cut back on the high 5 figure company cars for the boy's club and start paying salaries that attract new talent to the company. Trust your managers to make decisions and let them grow. Fire people who under perform as opposed to protecting them and making management spend months on action plans, or promoting them because you like to smoke with them.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Penske Truck Leasing as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Great place to work! Everyone is very welcoming and easy to work with. Commitment to strong company culture. Great exposure to senior management. Worked as an intern and was given real projects to work on during the summer. The projects were actually challenging and a great learning experience, didn't spend the summer making copies or getting coffee.
Cons – The location in Reading is far from everything.

I have been working at Penske Truck Leasing full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Easy to get foot in the door, camaraderie with coworkers, work days often fly by, employee discounts on truck rentals.
Cons – “Resigned to and settling for mediocrity,” company staffs for slow times and settles for bad customer service during peak times, employees are under unreasonably high stress-doing work of several people (many of my coworkers had drinking problems) compensation not adequate to allow for middle class lifestyle, company success does not trickle down, even managers make laughable wages.
Advice to Senior Management – Manage, set standards, job descriptions, and goals for your employees, communicate, get more competitive with wages,

I have been working at Penske Truck Leasing
Pros – Six sigma green, blackbelt and master blackbelt program/ project opportunites (from our GE Joint Venture influence), Finance emphasis on driving process improvement through Lean methodologies, extremely competitive benefits. Some management are open to new ideas.
Cons – Outdated systems, politics often lead to steadfast projects, poor interdepartmental communication, some management are stuck on "this is the way we do it because its always been done this way" attitude which is extremely frustrating.
Advice to Senior Management – Top heavy company - balance of compensation is extreme between white collar and senior management; this is the general consensus of at least 90% of my co-workers. If you want to reduce turnover and keep the exceptional talent, increase the compensation packages for the white collar worker and eliminate more of the middle management.

I worked at Penske Truck Leasing
Pros – Nice pay, ok benefits, coworkers can be nice to work with, management is understanding of emergencies when they arise. Good 401K package.
Cons – There were huge double and triple standards where I worked. I would consistently get called into the office and have to explain myself for something someone else accused me of, and when I debunked the lie, I wouldn't even get an apology for the false accusations. If you are not part of the "in-crowd" you can forget any kind of promotion or any kind of advancement. I worked there for 5 years and did my job well to one day be called into a conference room and be told I am being let go. I wanted Penske to be a company I was with for a career, unfortunately that will not be the case. If you like being a glutton for punishment, be my guest, otherwise, stay away!
Advice to Senior Management – Make sure to treat your best employees with respect and compassion, not like second class citizens. Also, make sure to hold everyone to the same standard, not pick and choose which policies you want to follow that day.

I worked at Penske Truck Leasing
Pros – Penske name may look good on a resume someday.
Cons – Look elsewhere unless you're in management, outside sales or your rights are protected by a union. No investment in me as an employee. Management and outside sales receives bulk of the training and investment. Mediocre pay and little opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay some attention to the annual feedback surveys. Too many VPs and levels of management.

I have been working at Penske Truck Leasing
Pros – Stable company, if you make to Director level you are awarded with a great benefit package.
Cons – Insensitive management, outsourcing, very political environment, double standards. If you are a clerk, help desk, or do analysis watch out your job is probably going to India, China, or Mexico. The IT staff including consultants does not reflect Berks county, by that I mean there are nearly as many Indian consultants as American citizens and I believe this is dragging down salaries.
Advice to Senior Management – Talk to employees, don't just take the word of your management team. Allow employees to review their managers. Question why some managers have such high turnover. Do you really need a Land Rover, Porsche, or Mercedes Benz as your company car? When everyone is watching there budgets why does Senior Management feel they can do whatever they want. Whatever happened to employee appreciation day? Why does management have there meeting in Florida in the winter when time are so tough?
