Great Intership

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Pentagram Design

ProsNew York office is a great place to learn and be exposed to real, high level design. They even paid the interns and gave us lunch.

ConsLong hours, but that's the case at most design internships.

Exploitative, unless you're a partner. Some teams are almost entirely staffed by interns.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Pentagram Design

ProsTo get a "prestigious" name on your resume.

ConsThe most exploitative place I've ever worked. Partners make all the profits, employees are paid non-livable wages and are expected to work crazy hours to make deadlines. Partners have incentive to take on as much work as possible, to maximize their profit. Employees never see any of it, and do all of the work.

Advice to Senior ManagementShare the wealth and stop going on those luxurious 5-star resort "retreats".

Excellent company

Senior (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Pentagram Design

ProsTop flight design firm, amazing clients and great partners who share their experience and skills with small teams. Very effective working arrangements.

ConsFlat company structure means little room for advancement. You learn a lot from the great clients and jobs that come in but you essentially end up having to leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up. You guys are buddies (mostly..) and you can have your favorites so watch that the approach to the staff is inclusive. The company is very flat so the staff have access to you, that also means they can see all your flaws...

Was a great learning experience

Design Intern (Former Employee)
London, England (UK)

I worked at Pentagram Design as an intern for less than a year

ProsWas exciting to see how a design company was run. Enjoyed going in to my internship each day.

ConsI wish the internship was more hands on in the design department, and less production work.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great Company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Pentagram Design full-time

ProsVery good atmosphere, great people and interesting projects. Excellent lunch and benefits. The building is great and has an open character.

ConsRelatively low pay compared to similar companies. The teams of the different partners don't work together which can result in knowing not all people working in the office.
