Pros
Great people and company to work for
Cons
Down sizeing and closing stores
Pros
20% discount except on oil. Managers were pretty good. Gained Experience.
Cons
Sometimes no lunch, and would have to stay past schedule time. Expected to clean when you don't get paid for it.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that it's hard to up sell and make people buy what you want.
Pros
pay is pretty good, different ad's expect different results so right now my district manager is really hard to work for.
Cons
very old and dated system badly in need for an upgrade,no advancement unless you have a drivers liscense, way to many emails, they do not let you manage your store
Advice to Senior Management
surport your managers, stop using nopc to threating managers for every mistake, treat managers like managers understand that we do work hard long hours daily.most of all let your managers make there own schedules that work for there store.one schedule for every member of management thruout a division does not work.example request days off, truck days, ppl stronger than others etc
Pros
Working at Pep Boys I was able to provide excellent customer service to those who walked into the store. That itself is a great feeling to me.
Cons
They are, as with any job downsides to working at a certain place. At pep boys there would be certain times when managers would be disrespectful to employees but things would always work out
Advice to Senior Management
My advice to the leadership at Pep Boys would be to provide constant training to their employees, including managers on products, customer service, and leadership skills.
Pros
Working with my peers, and the closeness of all the employees.
Cons
Lack of communication from DVP's and up
Advice to Senior Management
Do not hide information from the employees. Keep them informed
Pros
Comfortable work environment
Good with scheduling
Cons
Pay not very competitive
Politics and niches
slow to advance through ranks
Advice to Senior Management
Standards differ from store to store.
Pros
It is starting to grow again.
Cons
It is a good old boy network.
Advice to Senior Management
na
Pros
learning on cars. How to multitask, really multitasking.
Cons
Less hours every 6 months. Low raise if any. New management is coming in with a lot highier pay and less knowledge. Area Directors come and tell us what to do and that everything is wrong it the store without asking questions. VPs come and dont even look at your eyes. He asks "how are you doing today?" and a second later when you fixing to answer he turns around and walks away.
Advice to Senior Management
We all are humans with the same rights that you do. You are not over us, your title has more responsabilities than ours. Keep the employees that you have, dont hire new employees with little or no knowledge on cars with higher pay than the ones you al ready have. My motivation is on negative 50. from a scale of 0-100
Pros
Decent pay on average
Paid vacation and "OK" benefits
Cons
Long hours!
Open everyday but Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Lots of red tape.
Process's change almost weekly making it hard to keep up.
Lots of work and no payroll.
Entry level employees are paid very low and you get what you pay for.
To many chiefs and not enough Indians, you follow not only your direct supervisors rules but the other 25 people who work above you in various positions in and outside the store. There is no consistency,
They do not promote from within past the store management level.
Advice to Senior Management
Find your process and stick to it. If you change the way you do business every other day you will not be successful. Promote from with in. Ive been here 6 years and met many area directors and regional vice presidents. Ive yet to meet one that worked as a store or service manager.
Pros
Meet friendly customers, learn a lot about vehicles, commission makes pay a little better, not too stressful of a job when its not so busy, flexible schedule, fellow employees are helpful
Cons
Some customers are extremely rude and take out everything on you for no reason, sometimes mechanics can be a-holes and unwilling to help you explain vehicle problems to customers, royal pita if its really busy and you are one of the only service advisors there
