    Pros

My store manager is amazing as are the people I work with. Its a great way to remain within the industry without being a service adviser.

    Cons

No clear directives, leadership, goals or assistance from Pep Boys as a corporation and from anyone above the store managers. Stores are often left high and dry as are our customers as a result.

    Advice to Management

Please institute clear directives, leadership, goals and assistance. Run the service department more lie a dealership. Treat your employees as you would like to be treated.

    Pros

You get to learn about cars and collect a paycheck.

    Cons

Measly pay for hard work in a dangerous, hot and loud environment. Even with a strong work ethic the managers always wanted more.

    Advice to Management

The slackers know how to game the system.

    Pros

Laid-back environment overall, easy job, flexible hours

    Cons

Favoritism, hiring family members and permitting them to slack off, different treatment of genders

    Advice to Management

There SERIOUSLY needs to be something done about how employees are treated. There is a very noticeable difference between how males and females are treated, family member vs. non family member, etc. Even customers who come in have pointed this out.

    Pros

-If you are new you learn a lot -Really friendly employees -A lot of experienced people due to the industry -Seems to have a lot of great company values and competitive pay/ benefits

    Cons

-Really old building, since it is a retail company I can see how a modern environment might not be a priority. They have been focused on improving their actual stores so I'm guessing this takes a back seat -Occasional slow days and occasional long hours but that comes with the territory

    Advice to Management

Management needs a more modern marketing department. I know they do not have much competition but it seems like really dull advertising. Also a better cafeteria would be nice. It seems like you are paying more for lower quality food.

    Pros

at least when it comes to the typical holidays they are not off limits to take vacations sometimes like typical most retail companies that black out all those dates & times, not the best company to work for but also clearly not the worst

    Cons

Too many to list, but big issues center around constant changes in directions the company wants to go, lots of upper management & executive changes * revolving doors, many of the new area directors have no experiance or knowledge needed to do their jobs

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within but the right people, not just the suck ups trying to get promoted that don't really know anything, and also stick with what works.
