Welcoming

Career Coach (Former Employee)

I worked at Pepperdine University as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsAs a contracter for three years, was treated with respect. Pepperdine provided opportunities to learn among other similar contractors and made "us" feel part of the family. The students with whom I worked were mature and ready to do the work they needed to do to further their careers. Was given the opportunity to design and deliver some unique curriculum surrounding careers.

ConsAs a contractor, there are no cons.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone I can think of.

Inclusive work environment with holistic care for employees

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Pepperdine University part-time

ProsAmazing co workers, good benefits, time off, values of the university are implemented in work environments which can help with difficult situations that may be handled unethically elsewhere.

ConsThere are some challenges surrounding growth opportunities and options to switch between departments. Many employees I knew that have been working there for years have difficult switching positions/attaining higher positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave a more structured plan for growth and development for all employees to reduce turnover.

ProsBeautiful campus, wonderful people work here, good mission and values. The hours are never to strenuous and interaction with students are always pleasant.

ConsNothing outstanding with salaries, promotion can be difficult at times. Sometimes religious tradition gets in the way of implementing change.

ConsBeing a TA can be a very time consuming job, especially when you are a full-time student.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall, the professor that I am working with is great. He has demonstrated me to be patient and provided me with a sense of autonomy to accomplish my work.
