Thought I could learn from a big company but its no better then small-mid sized company

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Norwalk, CT

I worked at Pepperidge Farm as a contractor for less than a year

Pros-Lots of free food
-Good cafeteria

thats it.

Cons-Some people only got their job because of connection or their degree with no actual work knowledge.
-Manager don't know what they are doing and expect you to figure it out and complete their work for them.
-NOT a learning friendly environment. No one will teach you but only judge and criticize you when you're wrong without any constructive criticism.
-Lot of temporary/contractor who has been working there for years but they won't get hired. If you work 12 months, you have to leave for 2 months. after that if you want you can come back.
-Micromanaging judgmental manager.
-No room for growth/self-development
-No challenge. you're just a tool to the management. so you just do what they ask you to do without knowing why.
-No praise, only criticism
-'Product development' is just randomly putting things together and hope it works without any knowledge.
-Terrible pay..

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't just hire people because of they got the degree...
Don't make someone a manager when that person is clearly not ready to be a manager and most of people wonder the same.

Horrible

Production (Former Employee)
Richmond, UT

I worked at Pepperidge Farm full-time for less than a year

ProsDiscount,
Hours,
Cookies,
Condtions,
Product

The hours were good, didn't get out of work too late. The pay was ok, higher than other places in the area at the time.

ConsCo-Workers,
Politics,
Training,
Location,
Breaks

The people that have worked there a long time had their own way of doing things. If you didn't do things the way they "have always" done things they would like you know. Kind of Aggressive.
