I have been working at Pepsi Bottling full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

if you fit the mold and are willing to relocate many time you can climp the ladder, you will defintly move faster if you are female and your a person of race thats fresh out of college and willing to move around the country [they pay for relocation] you will love the job, just remember no holidays are off , you work weekends and summertime its always a 12 to 14 hour day of heavy lifting.

    Cons

    No weekend off
    No holidays off
    No car
    Long Hours
    heavy lifting
Always coming out with new promotions{too many at one time] and you must implement all, can became overwhelming.
Hopefully you fit the culture,if not you will not fit in
If you are a BCR {supermaket route ] iyou have many people that thik they are your boss
    reciever
    Grocery manager
Store Manager and of course you direct manager. If you have a good degree go for another industry ,this business has been stale for years, thats why you see so many new productrs coming out ,they forgot what got them to the dance and gobble up precious shelf space w/crap ie, Pepsi one,Pesi next, lime Pepsi,Vanilla Pepsi Moutain Dew voltage,M.D. white...you get the point, and make sure these products don"t go out of date.
Its always nice when you get a forced order and it doesnt sell and it goes out of date ..your fault,or your manager bumps your order when you know that store doe:st do well with that flavor, all stores are differant for various reason but they want conformaty that make no sence at all ,Inner city people like regular pepsi and oranges and grapes of the world ,hispanaks love Ginger ale and flavors not Diet Caff free Pepsi ,but if ypour diplay isnt aat standards watch out .This company is one of the strongest company in the world bujt they need to eliminate a number of SKUs and become more flexable in the trade.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More flexability in display, less SKUs,too many dogs in the inventory, concentration on fewer promotions.too many at once,we used to sale in sales ..show up and throw up ,these people give you 2mins at a time if you lucky

I have been working at Pepsi Bottling full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Other Employees who I have worked with throughout the years, other than that no pros

    Cons

No Work/Life Balance, Pay decrease year after year because they keep changing your routes and taking away commissions. (In Pepsi's eyes we make to much money for our role, which is ridiculous)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your employees more, many good employees looking for new jobs because unappreciated and overworked.

I worked at Pepsi Bottling full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is good for the lack of education they require. You can start early in the morning and be done with work by 3.

    Cons

Expect to work 50-60 hours per week. When you factor in the pay check versus hours worked, you are making very little money per hour. Plus is anything goes wrong in one of your stores (which it will), your manager will take no responsibility and write you up. Be prepared for a stressful and very unfair job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have your employees backs. You love to write people up, but do little to help them when overwhelmed.

I have been working at Pepsi Bottling full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good technology leader in the local markets.

    Cons

Unprofessional Co-workers (dare I say bold face liars), same conduct at the location with the location mangers. I pointedly asked location manager "why don't you set the example in ethics?" His response "I don't feel there is anything wrong with the minorities employed here". I thought he misunderstood but he shouted back "I heard you!" Unclassified idiot!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to drive home and teach ETHICs in the work place. Educated managers would be great. Painful to have to help some one read, pronounce and understand the spoken language.
