Advice to Senior Management
Great Company
Pros
A generally good mix of people to work with. Salaries are good and so are the benefits. I recommend it for everyone.
Cons
Work life balance can sometimes be less than optimal. Wouldn't want to work in the IT area. Those people always looked stressed.
Advice to Senior Management
I would tell management to just speak to the rank and file in a conversational tone and keep the business jargon to a minimum.
Pros
leadership provided clear strategic vision and communicated your role in achieving that vision
Cons
once you were "labeled", it was very difficult to get out from under that label
Advice to Senior Management
keep an open mind
Pros
Benefits- employee's- great HR team-
Cons
Things can get caught up in "red tape" but once you leave this company you find out very quickly how good of a company it is to work for.
Pros
Very stable company to work for. You could easily retire from the company. The benefits were excellent.
Cons
It was very challenging to get promoted and if you made any mistakes you were never really forgiven. They lacked proper leadership to cultivate and mold lower level engineers.
Advice to Senior Management
Evaluate why managers aren't promoting from within and determine what will it take to get an individual to the next level in tangible way. For example, must complete one course in Micrsoft, must become certified in XYZ and etc.
Pros
You get to do feild work and not cooped up in a building all day. You find out where all the good places to eat are at.
Cons
You have to work with the public. Which is hardly understanding when they dont get their way. Poor recompence from management.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to employes. Take a day once in a while and work with an employee in each dept. Pay attention the the employees needs to beter the company.
Pros
IT viewed as Business Partner
Excellent long term strategy and vision
CEO that CARES about employees
Excellent career path definition and progression
Cons
Difficulty letting bad people go
Poor decisions driven by fear of potential lawsuits
Hard workers asked to work harder
Imbalance with work & life - expect to work when needed - IT is definitely a 24x7 role
Advice to Senior Management
Turnover can be a good thing!
Hold everyone equally accountable
Keep recognizing the 'rock stars' - concentrate on working on dealing with the bad seeds
Pros
good benefits, lots of physical excersize,
Cons
no room for advancement, meager pay for supporting a family
Advice to Senior Management
consider moving up employees who have been with the company a few years rather than fill management positions with students
