Very Caring Fantastic People Organization

Process Control Manager (Former Employee)
Schaumburg, IL

I worked at PepsiAmericas full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThis was a company that truly cared about its employees. Opportunities, Fun Work Environment People, Senior Management

ConsIf they hadn't been forced to merge with PepsiCo's biggest bottling group by PepsiCo I would still be working for them.o

I have been working at PepsiAmericas

ProsA generally good mix of people to work with. Salaries are good and so are the benefits. I recommend it for everyone.

ConsWork life balance can sometimes be less than optimal. Wouldn't want to work in the IT area. Those people always looked stressed.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would tell management to just speak to the rank and file in a conversational tone and keep the business jargon to a minimum.

Consonce you were "labeled", it was very difficult to get out from under that label

Advice to Senior Managementkeep an open mind

It was a very positive experience and from an IT perspective it was cutting edge.

LAN Engineer (Former Employee)
Rolling Meadows, IL

I worked at PepsiAmericas

ProsVery stable company to work for. You could easily retire from the company. The benefits were excellent.

ConsIt was very challenging to get promoted and if you made any mistakes you were never really forgiven. They lacked proper leadership to cultivate and mold lower level engineers.

Advice to Senior ManagementEvaluate why managers aren't promoting from within and determine what will it take to get an individual to the next level in tangible way. For example, must complete one course in Micrsoft, must become certified in XYZ and etc.

Consno room for advancement, meager pay for supporting a family

PepsiAmericas: Great place for a first job, but not for a long term career

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Indianapolis, IN

I worked at PepsiAmericas

ProsFun product to sell. Good place to start a career. Never boring. Pay is above average for similar companies in the area. Decent benefits. Matching 401k.

ConsNot a lot of opportunities for advancement, once in management. All positions are required to work extra hours around all major holidays. Union shop, which can make simple day to day tasks, very difficult.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop worrying about "checking boxes" and fill open positions with the most qualified candidates.

I love my Job, but some things could really change

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at PepsiAmericas

ProsThey have a very good benefits program, and being the Pepsi guy gives you some sort of pride when your out and about

ConsVery poor communication between management and front line employees. Another big con is that you get absolutely no positive feedback when you do something good. Only get talked to when you end up doing something that is wrong.
Pay isn't as near as much as it should be. Working 50 to 60 hours a week really takes a toll on your body, however we don't get compensated correctly for doing so day in and day out

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to be more effective when communicating to both us front line employees, as well as the local management guys.

Not that bad, but it ain't great either

Account Sales Manager (Current Employee)
New Orleans, LA

I have been working at PepsiAmericas

ProsThere is definitely a diverse group of employees, which I feel is a good thing. Also, the benefits package is one of the best that I have actually seen.

ConsManagement has a tendency to micromanage, and seems to not care about any input that the lower level employees may have to share.

Advice to Senior Managementit's ok to ask for feedback

Great company with excellent, caring leadership

Human Resources Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at PepsiAmericas

ProsStrategic, thought provoking focus from Senior Management

ConsAbility to create and foster relationships were valued over knowledge and functional excellence

Advice to Senior ManagementCoach those with ability to secure relationships instead of promoting based upon relationship ability.
