    Pros

Fortune 500 at its best. High Pressure to sell volume while managing the expiration dates. Pressure to be creative and maintain +15% over last years numbers with a product everyone know will rot your teeth and make you fat. Soda is not on the rise so it becomes selling innovation products aka unproven products. These new products needs to be in 85% of all your account with a week of coming out. Its a heartless place based on hard metrics vs prior and your peers. Even if you are selling more than last year you may find issue with where you fall in the sales team.

    Cons

Clients will use you as a punching bag, because you have no recourse. Big Box store have no clear decision makers and going to the top of management for an answer is often seen as " going over someone who couldn't make the calls head". The worst is unprofessional support staff spitting on clients floor and smoking weed in there car. You call the get management to report issues only to be told that you need to lighten up they only make $13 an hour. Nothing is as serious as how much you have coming into the market vs how much your putting in the trash. Every else is on summer vacation and the sales staff is responsible for the craptastic job the driver and merchandiser do. Don't complain upper management will threaten your job and spread a rumor a sales position is coming open soon. I've seen good Big 10 educated woman specific be replace with a driver with a GED who simply had good attendance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to motivate and not threaten sales force. Leave the plant other than when company forces you to see the market.

    Pros

The pay is not bad. Lot of overtime, if you like that. Benefits not bad.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate better with employees. Provide a better work/life balance. Re-instate 5 day workweeks and holidays off.

    Pros

Very good training, business acumen and corporate education. The job is varied and puts you in many different situations.

    Cons

The job never ends and the management model does not allow for accountable coverage to allow time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The SDL position has holes and there needs to be some overhaul. The front line works hard and does the job well, management turnover is high and makes it tough to build trust with front line.

I have been working at PepsiCo full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Working for a beverage industry as large as PepsiCo. There are lots of challenges. but nothing comes easy. With all the proper training from all the experienced people that work here, we are like a family. And it is our job as good management to deliver not only good results but to create a successful and safe work environment.

    Cons

It's a challenging job, there's always more pop and other beverages coming in that are all fighting to get out the door. We have to always strive to never be late and always satisfy each and every customer from the large ones right down to the small mom-and-pop's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No matter how challenging it gets never give up! Take the tools you learn from everyone else and develop your own skills be the best You can be.
