    Pros

Trained me to be a "jack of all trades" in the restaurant business.

    Cons

Management told me they were going to train me in all areas of the restaurant, ending with management about 6 months after I started. I was trained and working as a cook, bus boy, host, and waiter and no longer offered the job. They would just move me around wherever they needed me. I then got a stomach infection and called in to work because I was in the hospital and was fired.

    Pros

A job is a job, right? Servers can make great money if they can put up with the under-qualified managers.

    Cons

Horrible leadership, most the servers at my Marie Calenders are in college yet it is questionable if our management even has high school level education.

    Advice to Management

Pay managers more so they are more qualified than their workers.

    Pros

The only positive thing is the coworkers they are all a great group of people.

    Cons

Very poor management. They treat you with no respect and like you are an idiot.

    Advice to Management

Show respect and actually schedule where people can actually do the cleaning and give back the extra vacation week back to those who earned that.

    Pros

Open door policy. Manager is better than what the job calls for. Credible health plan. Limited micro-managing.

    Cons

Literacy would help. Insecure assistant management. Inability or lack of how to relate one one one with employees. Little if any room for advancement. Policy seems to be ' just enough to keep corporate at bay "

    Advice to Management

Challenge your assistant managers to be more productive. They are too complacent. Non show any initiative. Try having them stay sober.

    Pros

The employees are great but manament is not usually willing to do what it takes.

    Cons

Expect to always run short on people.

    Advice to Management

A store does not need 5 expensive managers If they want to make labor. They just need 3 who want to work.

    Pros

Easy to get time off when needed. Staff can be friendly and sometimes easy on the eyes if you know what I mean

    Cons

They expect cooks to do everything all day and night. They will leave only one person on to close and get angry if you're not done right at close.

    Advice to Management

Have two or more cooks every night. "corporate" managers should have some sort of restaurant experience. It's rediculous that upper management expects the absolute best

    Pros

great coworkers, you get to try the food for free the first time, you get a 50% discount on food

    Cons

you can't request days off you have to have them covered by other employees, lots of favoritism, raises are hard to come by

    Advice to Management

work with your employees and their schedules and it isn't right (or legal) to make somone work off the clock
