I have been working at Perkins part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Get to meet new people and help them to the best of my ability.

    Cons

Sometimes the customer gets upset about their food or service. We then try to give them something to help them.

I have been working at Perkins part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Perkins gives outside hires chances to work for the company. They also work around your schedule, for the most part.

    Cons

Horrible pay to shift leaders who have a "management" role, are expected to run the restaurant on their own but receive the WORST training so that all there is left to feel proud of is that toilet you get to scrub at the end of every night because corporate is too cheap to hire cleaning people or keep a dish person on until close. Caring too much about table turns and guest counts per hour, making the guests feel rushed and the hard working servers feel like diner waitresses. Feeling like a robot repeating the same lines over and over at the cash register and shoving the bakery sales down the guest's throats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want a successful shift leader, invest more time in training them to feel like a manager and a leader instead of a glorified hostess with the crappy ghost shift closes.

I have been working at Perkins full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have nothing good to say about this company. Stay far away from it.

    Cons

Terrible management, engines are bare quality, you never get a day if and you'll never get a foot in the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees, and maybe hire the ones that work their butts off instead of lazy slobs.

I have been working at Perkins part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You can really make a lot of money, the menu is pretty easy to memorize

    Cons

I worked at 2 different Perkins. The first one was amazing, and I raved to everyone about how much I loved my job. When I moved for school I transferred Perkins, and it has been a horror to work there. Always understaffed, management is very unhelpful and often just rude. Working in unsafe environment. (there was once a sewage backup in the back of house, and the entire floor was covered in an half inch of sewage. Restaurant stayed open.) And working with a cook who was constantly tweaking on meth, who they wouldn't fire because they didn't want to look for a new over-night cook. It is just a ridiculous place to work, they had no pride in their jobs.

    I worked at Perkins

    Pros

Get everyone cut early and you'll make some decent money - if you can take on a ton of tables at once.

    Cons

Managers have egos that for some reason come along with a manager title.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire down to earth hard-workers to be managers. Get rid of the toxic manager that holds onto their role with a dealth grip.
