Pros
Great work ethic, people are very nice and know their stuff. Senior management recognize talent when they see it and appreciate it.
Cons
Smaller company with limited resources, so even if your a superstar there is only so much they can do for you. Due to the recession and slowdown in their business its very difficult to get promotions and/ or salary increments.
Advice to Senior Management
I enjoyed working with senior management and I wish them all the best! Go Perkins!
Pros
Good place to work, excellent managers and co workers, interesting and varied work
Cons
Underpaid compared with other firms and industries
Advice to Senior Management
Need to find other avenues of revenue growth, invest in up and coming staff.
Pros
Once you've shown you're serious about making a go of it at Perkins (it takes about six months of demonstrating an ability to respond well to constructive criticism and willingness to pitch in to get work done under deadline), management goes all in for you. You can tailor your CPE, the niches you work in, your hours, who you primarily work with. Expectations for change hours are transparent and feedback on job performance is ongoing. Annual evaluations and promotion/compensation decisions rarely seem out of the blue. Perkins values smart, loyal people. Management demonstrates business savvy but also a dedication to doing the right thing.
Cons
Perkins is a public accounting firm, and comes with the usual industry hazards. Compensation is based on the expectation that you will work 2350 hours a year, and it's probable that there will be 3-4 weeks a year where you work more than the stated max of the 55 hour week. Don't expect to have a life February-April.
Advice to Senior Management
Rhetoric about work life balance would be more credible if managers actually took their full five weeks of vacation. Likewise, it's just silly to have this many business oriented, financially savvy, bright employees and not get them invested in internal operations.
Pros
Full of cool people who genuinely want to do quality work, build a great career, and have a good time. Attitudes are some of the most progressive in the industry and there is a huge focus on technology.
Cons
People could do a better job of being honest with each other, more often. It's like the family that gets along really well so when there is an argument or a conflict, it feels really out of place, so it gets avoided.
Advice to Senior Management
Employees want to be asked to think of new ideas and try new things that are more cutting edge in the industry.
Pros
Fantastic work enviornment! beautiful Office! Very professional people! The work life balance is great! One of the very few firms that cares for its employees! Great clients to learn from and wonderful experience overall!
Cons
Pay is not that great!
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the fantastic work!
