Antiquated, but good to work for

    Associate Manager (Former Employee)
    West Covina, CA

ProsStrong management. Low turnover. They really try to create a strong team at each store unit level. If you work hard, you can move up relatively fast.

ConsThey really need to remodel a number of the locations and update the brand. It's dated and past its prime. While it is a good company to move up in while you are young, it isn't a company you want to work for in the long term.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpdate the image and concept of the brand.

ConsLow pay for the positions in comparison to other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome improvement needed especially in your ability to take advantage of today's technologies.

Ok place to work no job security, the bottom line is most important

Certified Food Server Trainer (Current Employee)
    Riverside, CA

Prosreasonable prices, cool promotions that bring in customers

Consasking customers to contribute to charities, people get this enough in other aspects of life.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider how price increases affect the servers and ask the people interacting with the public on advice before implementing something for the serve staff to do.

    Server/Expediter/Host

    Waiter (Current Employee)
    San Jose, CA

ProsAbility to move around in the company, upward mobility, employee has a strong influence on scheduling, most MC's restaurants have young cohesive employees who get along in and out of work

ConsHave to work every holiday, no wage raises, they strongly hassle you for being sick even if its one time in five years, poor training program, bureaucratic, outdated, just not a place that one would be proud to say they work at, there is no table limit you can be seated upwards of 12 parties at once.

Advice to Senior ManagementAudit cash reconciliations, Most store managers are too young and are not prepared to manage, Increase the companies training for all positions, rewards your employees instead of only threatening them as a way of motivation.

    Not bad, but not great.

    Server (Former Employee)

ProsGreat working environment. The other servers I worked with were friendly and for the most part worked together to get through each shift. Managers could get a little frustrated at times, welcome to working in the food industry.

ConsDealing with irate customers who expect everything from you, but offer nothing in return. Tips were usually minimal and expectancy of service was usually pretty high.

Advice to Senior ManagementStreamline the whole process with better training for those helping the servers.

This is the most disappointing work experience I've ever had.

    Server (Former Employee)

ProsI liked some of the people I worked with and a few of my regulars and every month we would play safety bingo, but even that has stopped now as far as I know.

ConsI didn't feel like I mattered at all to this company. I got no acknowledgement for anything that I did and our owner could care less about us. We work on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve and if he has it his way the employees will probably be working on Christmas day one of these years. There is no insentive to want to go above and beyond for the management here at all. This is a dead end job.

Advice to Senior ManagementWe need much much better training for new employees. The hosts don't know how to run a wait or go by rotation and many of the servers don't help eachother out like they should or carry their own weight .

    Just ok

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Memphis, TN

ProsDaylight savings hours let off early on Friday's during DST.

ConsStagnant, cheap, Identity crisis, Too many people in upper management not willing to do things differently.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit treating Senior VP's like they are "better than everyone else" and no one should question them. Figure out who you want to be as a company. Quit coming up with slogans thinking they are going to motivate people and put some real substance behind improving customer service.

Fun place to work with little corporate feeling. Paid all my college fees

    Server (Former Employee)
    Placentia, CA

    Pros-Fun Staff
    -decent tips
-easy to become server if motivated
    -great hours
    -a lot of freedom
-Because managers don't hassle the servers with too much corporate BS, it is a fun place to work. Managers appreciate a job well done

Cons-you have to whip a lot of stupid pies
    -work most holidays
-sometimes the district manager will come in and screw everything up with corporate BS
-Corporate continues to impose stupid regulations on it's stores. Because corporate is so clueless, these regulations typically slow the staff down, make everybodys job harder and the customer upset.
-because the economy is bad, corporate is cutting back on food quality and portions which is embarrassing when you're dealing with the customers that paid way too much for their meal and notice this stuff
-you're not really going to advance your career..it's mutha f***in marie callendars!

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue appreciating your servers. If they're doing a good job, don't hassle them with corporate BS! was a fun place to work and made a lot of life long friends.
