    Pros

Continuing education and advancement opportunities. Great work/life balance. Family friendly. Increasingly diverse cultural and varied geographic employee population. Very friendly people. Commitment to growth. Very stable with high population of long term employees.

    Cons

Rapid growth is bringing a lot of change. If you find change difficult to manage you may be frustrated. If you see change as an exciting opportunity to learn and grow this is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please remember the great work/life balance you have consistently provided has kept a lot of talented people here. Please continue to invest in your people and in new technology to help streamline processes.

LOVE my job, the company, my coworkers and the HQ

Current Employee - Regulatory Affairs Project Manager in Allegan, MI

    Pros

efficient (no more hour-long weekly recurring meetings full of blather; biweekly half-hour meetings will get cancelled if the project manager has determined there is no new news!), flat (only a few managers between you and the CEO; fewer conflicting interests to attempt pleasing), profit-driven AND employee-centered (HQ just built a small 24/7 gym free for all employees to keep us healthy and improve the bottom line), egalitarian (all employees get a holiday gift and are eligible for bonuses when the company profits), managed with integrity and focus (managers deflect politics like super-ninjas, so you can do your awesome work!), hometown values with global reach (very respectful of family-time, but provides current technology to allow/encourage productivity everywhere), provides the best tech to minimize the psychic pain of administrative necessities like training and performance reviews, coworkers are kind without being nosy and professional without being political, compensation is competative with the biggest pharma in the US, you will work and learn a LOT

    Cons

it would be easier to snowmobile here in the winter, in the spirit of lower overhead there is no cafeteria, but since it is a small town there are very few restaurants to choose from for dining out (lunch), you want to get in at a high level of employment (flat = not lots of opportunities for vanity promotions), better be ready; the workload is no joke

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep protecting us from ugly politics and we'll keep working like crazy robots

Great company that's going places, no room for growth at PNY

    Pros

Great company to work for in general. Competitive pay and benefits, family friendly, good work/life balance, very good morals. A company you can be proud to work for. Very cool to see your products on the shelves in your local drug store.

    Cons

The PNY site is very flat - there are the manufacturing personnel on the floor, the office workers, and a small number of management personnel. Therefore, room for growth is limited unless you are willing to transfer to an alternate site. A majority of people at PNY have been here for a majority of their careers - and sometimes it is the only pharma company they have ever worked for. Due to this, it is very difficult to change the way things are done and suggestions are not always welcome. Typical response to suggestions is "this is the way it has always been done." On that note, there are people who have been here so long that they have senior roles when they do not appear to have earned them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm proud to be an employee at Perrigo and think upper management is doing a good job overall. In terms of continuing to progress and become more efficient at the PNY site in particular, my advice is to bring in fresh people who have experience working in other pharma companies and installing them in management roles. There has been an influx of young, enthusiastic, smart people at PNY, but not a lot can be changed without the support of more people in a management position.

Current Employee - Validation Specialist in Allegan, MI

    Pros

Employees are valued and their contributions are recognized by management. Opportunities abound to make a difference for the individual willing to take initiative. Perrigo's care for the individual is evident in work/life balance, focus on fitness, and flexibility when personal circumstances may legitimately limit a person's availability for work.

    Cons

Perrigo's major manufacturing site and former headquarters is located in Allegan, MI, a small city located 30+ miles from major metropolitan areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perrigo's Allegan site has many long term employees. Perrigo could benefit by increasing "employee diversity" by hiring more folk with work experience in other pharmaceutical and medical device firms.

Current Employee - Operations Supervisor in Allegan, MI

    Pros

    Great team of leaders
    Engaged Employees
Lots of different projects and challenges to keep you busy
    Career avenues outside your department

    Cons

Lots of red tape and changes are implemented slowly..
Some areas stuck on "always done it this way"
Communication can be poor between departments and when things change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep evolving and changing to stay ahead of the competition. It can be very easy when things are good to stay "fat and happy". Make sure we stay one step ahead.

    Current Employee - Financial Analyst

    Pros

    Family oriented
High salaries compared to other local employers
Great insurance at really low rates
Great bonuses based off of set standards of progress
Great 401K package with profit sharing and company stock available
Availability of 24/7 gym for all employees located in Allegan
Free Perrigo pharmaceuticals from the company store
Long list of extra perks available (holiday dinners, choice of holiday gift around Thanksgiving, etc.)
Ability to climb the corporate ladder is available for those determined enough to make it happen (many start on the lines and move up from there)
Always looking to further embrace the work-life balance (though it can be a slow process of adaption in some areas)

    Cons

The rapid rate of expansion that Perrigo has experienced in the last decade has been rather painful for some areas of the company as demands and headcount do not increase at the same rate
As stated, the work-life balance is adapting inconsistently among departments and seems to be moving slowly through the company (I would have given Perrigo 5 stars if it wasn't for the reality that the work-life balance has a ways to go before being ideal)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Departments' adaption of the work-life balance is inconsistent, many departments that could offer further flexibility via work from home days or flexible work hours will not simply due to a resistance in management to change. If upper management were to further encourage the adaption of these principles company-wide it would go a long ways towards increasing employee morale, loyalty to the company and preventing people from leaving due to issues with their work-life balance (money is not everything to an employee anymore).

    Pros

The pharma industry is booming with no end in sight and Perrigo seems to be in full acquisition mode, acquiring 1-2 companies each year. The leadership team is outstanding and Perrigo is positioned for success in an increasingly competitive market. Salaries are more competitive than most in this geographical area and there is a real focus on professional development.

    Cons

Perrigo is in Allegan and most people commute at least 30 minutes one-way to work. The drive is worth it, but it's not short no matter how to look at it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Millions of people around the globe rely on Perrigo for their health and well being. Lets not let them down.
