    I have been working at PetEdge full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    I have worked very hard, and have been promoted a few times. I am happy with the opportunities I have had. Workload can be heavy at times, but I really like the people I work with.

    Cons

    I don't think the company has done a great job with processes. It's not always clear when things are due. I have had to figure out a lot for myself, and would have liked to have had better training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide more training. More recognition for hard work.

    Pros

    Plenty of open space, due to so many leaving ( both on their own and due to layoffs )

    Cons

    Lost 4 VP's in less than 6 months and when people leave they don't backfill. Company is shrinking and the smart ones are parachuting out. Too many good people ejected in the latest layoff.

    Customers are tired of the constant turnover of reps. Long term employees used to be a strength, now they are being thinned out of the herd.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Where did you go? If you don't backfill VP's - what kind of message are you sending employees on the health of the company ?

    Pros

    In the beginning it was good. Shortly there after it took a nose dive.

    Cons

    I worked there there in 2011. They have the worst HR dept. They tried to get rid of me by thinking they could outsmart me. Little did they realize who they were trying to bully. The management was eh...okay in the beginning but then it got positively worse. They brought on a new manager who less then a year later was demoted. They hired a call center supervisor who hit on every woman within a 2 inch, yes 2 inch vicinity, whom he would sleep with just because they had a low self esteem. The environment was horrible, no recognition for actually doing your job instead of ignoring it, including dealer services. I have never in my life worked for such a horrible company.

    Hire better people with better moral standards.

    A paycheck sort of. A plus to work in Beverly at the Cummings Center location.

    Pros

    • Convenient location free parking and/or close to commuter rail - Cummings Center has everything you need from doctors, dentists, post office, restaurants, etc.
    • Some PetEdge employees are really nice to work with
    • If you love pets - it's a good place to work

    Cons

    • Culture is terrible
    • Benefits are terrible - medical insurance is very expensive and vacation time is non-existent
    • Bonuses are never paid out and you never get recognized for going above and beyond
    • Managers in certain departments are down right belittling

    Pros

    PetEdge truly believes in continuous improvement. They have invested a great deal in systems and training in order to improve process and the customer experience.
    I was able to experience great professional growth while with the company.
    They make a point to recognize employee's who go above and beyond.

    Cons

    The cost of healthcare was higher than I have seen in other jobs.

    They are very stuck in their antiquated ways of how they think a sales force should be managed.

    Large work areas, a pet store inside office.

    Cons

    Very poor training. You are expected to learn a proprietary system within days. Training is done by a temp worker and management has no involvement.

    This company is setting themselves up for failure. It is a delusional expectation for people to learn your complicated system, plus cross-train them within a matter of days,

    Pros

    Good work-life balance. The location is very convenient. The managers, supervisors are willing to help and share knowledge which is a huge plus (it is not always the case with other companies - I worked at a place where they taught you to "push back" instead of helping). There is growth opportunity for sure.

    Cons

    Pay could be a bit more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep going, you are on the right track. Maybe re-look at some of the options, policies for clients that cost the company too much money.

    Pros

    Very dynamic company... I was drawn to the manufacturing capabilities, vast product selections and cutting edge category trends. The management team truly cares about your success and and is great about providing the proper tools to help you be successful. My main draw to joining PetEdge was my instant comfort level with Trina and her management style. The inside account managers are very knowledgeable and supportive in growing accounts together.

    Cons

    It was a bit challenging at first to learn where/who to go to for information or assistance on project needs. The new computer system took time to learn to navigate, as well as the other networks but it came pretty quickly once I started applying it to real needs. I was a bit surprised that several customers were unhappy with or had quit buying from PetEdge, which required some damage control that I wasn't expecting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Schedule less general meet-and-greets and much more focused meetings with key personnel such as inventory management, merchandising etc... These are the people I really need to successfull manage my customers and I don't recall any time with them during my training...I could have missed it though, it was a fast week!
