Former Employee – worked at PetSmart full-time for more than a year
Pros – PetSmart has a fast paced, high energy environment.
Cons – The biggest downside to working at PetSmart is having to live in Phoenix, which is the reason I ultimately left the company.

Current Employee – been working at PetSmart part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Friendly work environment, work with animals, good chance to gain retail experience. The various departments offer a range of learning experiences and tools that can be used later on in future endeavors.
Cons – Sub-par pay, not enough advancement opporunities. Had to leave after I did not receive a raise that I felt I deserved after three years with the company. A 20 to 30 cent raise every 6 months just won't cut it.
Advice to Senior Management – Managers are friendly enough, but should do a better job of leading by example.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Cons – dealing with the general public but then again that is all retail lol
Advice to Senior Management – stop paying outside hires more than internal promotions

Former Employee – worked at PetSmart full-time for more than a year
Pros – Employees genuinely care about pets. Good work life balance. The office is empty after 5pm.
Cons – Poor leadership at the Director and Vice President levels. Very few growth opportunities below the Vice President level. Senior leadership places very little value on education.
Advice to Senior Management – Place a larger emphasis on education and career advancement.

Current Employee – been working at PetSmart full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – If you're an animal lover, this is for you! You get to help others with their pets, and learn so much about different kinds of pets
Cons – PetSmart is cheap! The raises are anything from 6 cents an hour to 13 cents if you're lucky. This year's Christmas bonus was a cheap plastic watch with a slap band. This is a company who boasted a 50% profit last quarter, has two corporate jets, and we get slap band watches and our hours cut so their share holders will get a profit.
Advice to Senior Management – Greed is a bad thing.

Former Employee – worked at PetSmart full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Years ago PetSmart was a great place to work, not so today.
Cons – Very long hours
Current management is very political. Directors and VPs manage by perception, not reality - very cut throat.
Advice to Senior Management – Upper management needs to take a hard look at who they have placed in VP and Director positions. Current management fostering an environment of demoralizing seasoned highly skilled people, low moral and very good people looking for other opportunities outside PetSmart.

Current Employee – been working at PetSmart part-time for less than a year
Pros – Phone calls are easy and no stress. Pet Parents are always in a good mood and fun to talk to. Time goes by really fast and calls are back to back.
Cons – Upper management never bothers to come out on the floor, they hide in their office and act like you are beneath them. Supervisors are inexperienced and you don't have any interaction with them unless you've done something "wrong". One on one's don't happen, you get an email with your stats and errors. Hours aren't the same from week to week so you can't depend on a salary.
Advice to Senior Management – Get out on the floor and see what the team that is making $$$$$ for the PetHotel are doing. These guys are the backbone of this organization!!!
