I have been working at Peter Marino Architect full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay and great benefits. People are generally cordial, and talented. The office is easy to get to and a clean place. The art everywhere keeps you inspired.

    Cons

Boss can be a bit of a diva. Hours are very strict, you have to clock in and out during lunch, and even though it's a salaried position start and end hours for the day are strict. And the time off policy is detestable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Could be a little less corporate and a little more relaxed. Also could be more approachable.

I worked at Peter Marino Architect

    Pros

You can leave the office at 6:00 p.m.
    Paychecks are direct deposit.
    Peter is accessible, sometimes.
    Projects are plentiful.

    Cons

Senior management lends no support to architects and designers.
    Technology and equipment is antiquated.
Peter is a screamer. If you do not have thick, leather-clad skin, seek work elsewhere.
The office environment is tense, at best.
Bring your American Express-Titanium card to work. The company doesn't issue company credit cards for travel or work-related expenses.
Paid holidays are few. Benefits package is stingy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communicate.

    Pros

Lots of good people there. Good talent. If you can deal with the boss....

    Cons

Mr Marino is a very difficult person to work for. Sadly, Devil wears prada is pretty close.

I worked at Peter Marino Architect full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some very unique projects, potential to travel to some cool places, be around some very good designers, get to see some unique art, and to meet Mr. Marino. good benefits and decent pay in comparison to most places. staff is also very multi cultural and professional.

    Cons

poor management or guidance for young architects. interiors department is full of designers who don't know how to use computers and rely too heavily on the architects. senior architects can either be very pleasant or extremely difficult to work with. all design comes from Mr. Marino and can cause unnecessary hardship on project architects which adds unneeded pressure all around. sense of entitlement of upper management. strangely strict technology budget. there are a lot of older project architects who keep one leg in the 90s and fax machines are going strong here, same people don't use autocad and still hand draft. long hours for no reason with project managers who have turned into all work no play robots.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

have weekly group meetings to get everyone on par, include younger staff in more meetings, this will create a more independent and competent young staff.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
