Pros
Benefits, child care center and work life balance are good. Colleagues keep one another spirits going to make it through the day.
Cons
Always waiting to be told that your position has been eliminated. Positions are eliminated also due to manager's dislike of a particular colleague. Atmosphere is like a dead zone. Colleagues are overworked due to the large amount of layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
Eliminate the top heavy senior managers and all the cronies who were hired in the past. Find some time to acknowlege colleagues who are working so hard with a thank you.
Pros
The salary and benefits are great.
Cons
It appears to be very poorly run. I am very low on the totem pole so may not realize their skills, but from what I can tell it isn't what one would expect from the largest pharmaceutical company in the world. There are no opportunities for advancement and it is still very much a good ole boys company. They all take care of their buddies.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people more competent than yourselves to help get this company growing. To employees vote out the Board of Directors they are responsible for the hiring of the CEO and approving the compensation.
Pros
if you are established within an existing "tower" you may have enough connections to bypass the next wave of lay-offs.
Cons
As listed in the review headline; can you really function at peak performance when no one has your back let alone your future?
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate that your staff and middle management are directly affected by and spread the tone from the top, for better or worse.
Pros
Benefits
Flexibility
Good product line
Well known company
Stable company
Cons
Little room for growth
Inadequate management
Pros
Pfizer, historically was a great company to work for. Excellent values, integrity, innovative and with a mission that helped to serve humanity. there are still lots of god people, but the pressures of the business have changed the culture for the worse.
Cons
While the company still has significant strength and financial resources. The lack of a coherent strategy and the relentless cost cutting and downsizing have created a very stressful culture. The mission has shifted from helping humanity and running a good business to "it's all about the money." Ian has a major mountain to climb. He is doing better than I thought he would - figures an "old time Pfizer" guy might make the right difference.
Pros
Company offers comepetitive salary & benefits. Overall you get great satisfaction of the work and great people around you to work with.
Cons
High turnaround of colleagues and the roles are short lived which makes it difficult to focus on long term solid strategy and everybody is focused on achieving short term results.
Advice to Senior Management
NeeManagement needs to have more respect for people and some fairness. A very quick turn around of people makes it difficult to own the business and develop long term growth opportunity
Pros
Good company. Great resources. Good pay. Makes a difference.
Cons
VERY political. Limited ability for advancement. Little support. Little recognition.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees. Improve fairness. Limit inbreeding.
Pros
Benefits; ability to take time off without problems
Cons
10+ people per admin/stressful. Admins are overwhelmed; instability; constant fear of losing job
Advice to Senior Management
Treat admins fairly; eliminate 10:1 ratio
Pros
Excellent pipeline that has a lot of potential. The oncology, RA, and biotech portfolios are really making inroads and will have a significant impact on patient treatment.
Cons
Constant downsizing & restructuring leaves you always wondering when you'll be next to go. Pfizer still seems unprepared for Lipitor patent cliff.
Advice to Senior Management
Severly cutting the R&D budget and then outsourcing big chunks of it does not inspire your talented scientists to reach new levels of productivity & scientific advancement.
Pros
Benefits were really really good if you were a Pfizer employee. Unfortunately of you were absorbed you did not capitalize on the Pfizer benefits. .
People were awesome.
X
Cons
Lack of communication and limited support from management.
Missing defined processes to enable strong infrastructure management.
Expectations were increasing while actual staff (headcount) were significantly decreasing.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to listen and not complicate processes.
Many people in the organization have the long term experience to help.
