I worked at Pfizer full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Challenging Work. Lots of Big Company perks. Ok Salary. Great People to talk to.

    Cons

Leadership is blind to ongoing strife. No real chances for promotion. Micromanagement from Middle Management while Upper Management is more trusting of its work force.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management should monitor its Middle Managers like the Middle Managers manage their employees. Then maybe Middle Management would back off and let the people hired to do their jobs actually do their jobs.

I have been working at Pfizer as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The management on both the technology and business sides are working towards mutual goals; communication may take several attempts however they do persist until everyone understands; there is respect for other ideas and contributions.

    Cons

There is too much work for the current staffing levels of employees and contractors - progress is slowed and there is more tooling up/down to be really efficient/productive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review the staffing levels with an eye to growing the next generation of technical experts now rather than later when it is always crunch time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Arrange better way to locate people and to phone them; set-up readily accessible database of people, phone numbers, work-stations, OS characteristics, IP addresses, and physical location when possible

    Pros

Managers had integrity and truly cared about professional development.
