    Fun, entertaining summer job

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)
    Fort Wayne, IN

Pros-Great work dynamic between managers and employees (Really depends on store, though).
-Great deals for customers, customers love saving!
    -Seasonal simplicity at its finest.

Cons-Needs to screen store managers better.

Advice to Senior ManagementAgain, watch who you hire. just because someone has fireworks experience doesn't mean they should manage a store.

    Slave shift

    Front End (Current Employee)
    Matamoras, PA

ProsApart from the busy season, during the holidays, there is a lot of down time and opportunity to work on yourself as a person. The CEO came to our site once with pizza for everyone. The work is seasonal so it's perfect for students

ConsDuring the busy season you are constantly working. The heat, work repetition, customers, management, lazy coworkers are all factors that leave you depleted at the end of your 12 hour shift

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize that the employees are not getting paid enough to be treated like slaves and to respect them

    Sales and Cashier (Former Employee)

ProsGood if you're just trying to make some good summer cash. I was part-time and was working over 50 hrs a week

    ConsLong Hours
    Monontous work
    Hot, rude customers

Enjoyed my experience as Fireworks Tent Manager

    Tent Manager (Former Employee)
    Erie, PA

ProsMinimal to no supervision, friendly management.

ConsWeather (a tornado hit my tent!). Also the compensation looks great, but you'll pay most of it out for sufficient help and security, especially during 4th of July week. It evens out to a contract sales job.

    Great

    Cashier (Former Employee)
    Monroe, MI

ProsFun work environment for a part-time to gain customer service and sales experience. Get tons of hours the week of July 4th. Also get to see a lot of cool fireworks and sell them to enthusiastic customers.

ConsSeasonal job that substantially cuts hours after July 4th with half of the summer still left to work. The very little amount of hours you do get to work during this time are incredibly boring with nothing to do but count the minutes.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet employees know about any internship programs or career opportunities after college

    lots of breaks
    friendly staff
    usually started above minimum wage

    Consonly seasonal
sometimes have to stay over (but they offer overtime)
    very busy during summer months!

    Advice to Senior Managementnothing!!

The work environment was extremely friendly.

    Cashier (Current Employee)
    Fort Mill, SC

ProsYou receive a ridiculous amount of hours during the week of the 4th of July as well as the week of New Year's.
It is a wonderful temporary job.

ConsOther than the busy seasons, you have little to no hours nor do you have anything to do if you are working.
You also have to deal with some less-than-pleasant patrons but that's the joy of the retail industry.

    Okay place to work

    Account Manager (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsThe company gives you alot of freedom to do your job. You get a company car, cellphone reimbursment, and gas card. Your networking with groups and building relationships.

ConsThere is no room to move up. The managers can mirco manager and want to know everything your doing. There are no yearly raises. You have no life during the months of May through July.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive yearly performance reviews with raises.

Fun atmosphere, laid back but busy, good summer job for high school/college students

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Canton, OH

ProsThe staff was primarily all young people. The atmosphere was up-beat and fun even during the busiest times (July 4th). Some of the employees were good workers, others were very lazy.

ConsLow pay as with all temporary retail jobs. However, if you did your job well there were plenty of hours to go around during the busy season.
