    Staff Nurse

Registered Nurse (Current Employee) Sleepy Hollow, NY

ProsGreat place to work. Management very supportive and nurturing. Very nice and caring staff to work with. You will learn a lot. Managers and clinical nurse specialists are very helpful and are always lending a hand. The nurse manager was one of the best I've ever had. Adequate opportunities to participate in communication and governance leaderships.

ConsSmall community hospital, potential for growth can be limited.

Very good experience. They are strong in educating and equipping their managers.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsTraining is a big deal at the facility. They are big on training managers and supervisors. They also communicate their plans well with staff. They are willing to pursue the latest technologies. They are very employee friendly, so job security is great there. They provide yearly raises to the staff.

ConsThere is limited opportunity to grow as a product of their employee retention. Many employees have been in the same position for years, and don't necessarily move along in their careers. Salaries are at the low end of what is competitive, but being a small community hospital in Sleepy Hollow, they may not be able to provide the most competitive salaries.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake HR policies stricter, and enforce them consistently in order to be able to alter employee behavior from bad to good. Also, look to find more employee benefits (insurance discounts, partnerships with other companies or services, etc.)

    Disappointing

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOverall nice atmosphere; many friendly people.

ConsPoor & uncooperative Administration Staff...stay away from Telecommunications Dep't. Too much hostility, hatred, racism.

    excellent employer overall

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosnice environment, annual raises, committed staff. Patients are great and the location is excellent. Parking is free.

ConsThere exists some favoritism amongst certain md's and change can be slow to occur at this hospital. However, most staff really care about the patients and their jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementWould like to see more recognition of rank and file workers who do outstanding things on a daily basis.

    Nice community hospital setting.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Sleepy Hollow, NY

ProsNice community hospital. Smaller environment so easy to know alot of people. Most people work in a team environment. Tries to offer variety of services so to be competitive with other hospitals in this class. Good benefit package including tuition reimbursement. Management personable and approachable. Motivated to provide quality health care. Easy place to be employed. Basically, a good place of employment if not looking for long term career advancement. Has been a good experience.

ConsBelow average pay scale is primary drawback. Limited career advancement opportunities. If paid market rate would stay long term but forced to look elsewhere for future employment.

Advice to Senior ManagementRe-evaluate all pay scales, including non-clinical staff members.

Great Place to Gain experiance, Bad Place to Stay forever

    Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsThey give good opportunities to those who do not have high qualifications. Good Vacation package.

ConsThey need to revamp the salaries (hasnt been competative for more then 25 years. Most positions are underpaid by a market value of about 25-40%. All the Big Shots here make 500k plus (CEO makes 1.2mil) and their mentality is to keep it that way. They dont want to make true change, and keep giving folks false hope of improvement.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemove all the Hogwash of directors, and assistant directors, and the 20 VP's. Stop buying chairs and carts for $3k a piece. Use the money saved to improve employee salaries (happy employees means better service, and happier patients = more money, and better HCAHPS scores. Listen to the little guy, and keep the goals at a high standard.
