Current Employee – been working at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center
Pros – nice environment, annual raises, committed staff. Patients are great and the location is excellent. Parking is free.
Cons – There exists some favoritism amongst certain md's and change can be slow to occur at this hospital. However, most staff really care about the patients and their jobs.
Advice to Senior Management – Would like to see more recognition of rank and file workers who do outstanding things on a daily basis.

Former Employee – worked at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great community to work in and serve.
Cons – High Expectations, big work load.
Advice to Senior Management – Management was very fair although demands were high. More flexibility given the high demands would be something that needs work.

Current Employee – been working at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center
Pros – Nice community hospital. Smaller environment so easy to know alot of people. Most people work in a team environment. Tries to offer variety of services so to be competitive with other hospitals in this class. Good benefit package including tuition reimbursement. Management personable and approachable. Motivated to provide quality health care. Easy place to be employed. Basically, a good place of employment if not looking for long term career advancement. Has been a good experience.
Cons – Below average pay scale is primary drawback. Limited career advancement opportunities. If paid market rate would stay long term but forced to look elsewhere for future employment.
Advice to Senior Management – Re-evaluate all pay scales, including non-clinical staff members.

Current Employee – been working at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – They give good opportunities to those who do not have high qualifications. Good Vacation package.
Cons – They need to revamp the salaries (hasnt been competative for more then 25 years. Most positions are underpaid by a market value of about 25-40%. All the Big Shots here make 500k plus (CEO makes 1.2mil) and their mentality is to keep it that way. They dont want to make true change, and keep giving folks false hope of improvement.
Advice to Senior Management – Remove all the Hogwash of directors, and assistant directors, and the 20 VP's. Stop buying chairs and carts for $3k a piece. Use the money saved to improve employee salaries (happy employees means better service, and happier patients = more money, and better HCAHPS scores. Listen to the little guy, and keep the goals at a high standard.
