I have been working at Philadelphia Housing Authority full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-The people I worked with are awesome
    -The job was easy
    -Relaxed atmosphere
    -Learned a little bit
-Experienced a lot of different people and job roles and places

    Cons

-Almost no upward mobility in some departments
-On the job experience/learning is somewhat limited
-Dealing with the residents is horrible
-Very easily became jaded with the public housing system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Focus on making things more streamlined
-Focus on hiring more quality employees, it was disappointing to see poorly performing people get the same raises/bonuses as the people that worked really hard.

I worked at Philadelphia Housing Authority as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The IT division of this government entity is lead by Faisal Hussan and Anthony Sampson. These are two of the most professional, accomplished, and inspired leaders I have ever been bless with in my career.

    Cons

It remains a government institution with traditional issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

That you continue the excellence of your professional careers and your caring attitude and usual appreciation for those who serve you.

I worked at Philadelphia Housing Authority full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great medical benefits, random unexpected bonuses, pay increases and promotional titles.

    Cons

Chaos, lack of resources, bullying management, unstructured events, procedures, and lots and lots of sneaky moves by executive leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp everything, although in my 5+ years, there were so many restarts I lost count.

I have been working at Philadelphia Housing Authority full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and a great environment if you really enjoy helping people. Programs that are offered really benefit the residents we serve.

    Cons

Leadership is lacking. Employees don't feel appreciated and we are always looking over our shoulders not knowing if we will be fired today or tomorrow. Morale is very low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what your employees are saying because we are the ones on the frontlines actually doing the work.

I worked at Philadelphia Housing Authority full-time

    Pros

This is a needed and helpful organization for the people in need. Most employees want to and do offer as much assistance as possible.

    Cons

Management however has a style of leadership that makes employees look over there shoulders, is political in nature and seldom rewards for great work seeming to believe in the stick and fear school of motivation not the carrot and heartfelt leadership.

I worked at Philadelphia Housing Authority full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay...and that is about it folks. Nothing else to say!

    Cons

locations that are ridiculous to get to

if you want to stare into to space and do absolutely nothing this is the job for you.

Just miserable after a while...I gain no experience here!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give interns something to do instead of busy work a 10 year old can do. I kept asking for work and got wither busy work or nothing. I didn't learn a thing what a waste of time.
