    Pros

Best in class products, company car

    Cons

Don't come to work at this company unless you are ready to increase your sales by no less than 20%, and willing to accept a 1.5% merit increase. My first year, increased my territory by 35% (received a 1% merit increase), my second year increased by territory by 18%...received a 1.5% increase. The base salaries are below the industry minimum. I have had 3 National Sales Managers in 2 years, as well as 4 territory changes. Work life balance is a joke, be prepared to work weekends, nights, etc. I would PROBABLY recommend this company to my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Teaming up to win, excel, etc., should not be a one way process, the word TEAMING up would lend a person to believe that the company would team up with their employees, this company feels this is a one way team (the employee must give 100% (or better) and still only receive a 1% merit increase.

    Pros

Have great innovations and the name recognition as a global company.

    Cons

Poor choice in management and lack of employee retention.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people and motivate them to climb the ladder.
Invest in better trained recruiters. The current system is far from perfect.

    Pros

Worked with a few great people, pay was competitive. Was given fairly free reign with minimal micromanagement, which is sensible for employees that are self-motivated. It was close to home, which was really all I liked about it.

    Cons

Layers of escalation for issues, to the point where "War Level" is supposed to be taken seriously. Supported the belief that having management included on an email or getting upset somehow solves a problem. Rife with nepotism and cronyism, and most promotions I saw were for employees I was shocked had their job to begin with.

Great potential, but internal dysfunctionality and petty social dynamics take away from the organization being its best

    Pros

    Great opportunity to wear multiple hats;
Great opportunity to interact with and make an impact across all functions

    Cons

lack of accountability and ownership by majority of staff & senior leadership
standards & expectations from sr. mgt that they themselves don't adhere to
    bad employee morale in general
rather atrocious employee retention for such a small group
lack of strategic vision by most staff and departments - feels more like working in factory than an innovation center of excellence

    Advice to Management

    Really look at yourself in the mirror and assess/understand/acknowledge your true shortcomings;
    Lead by example
Understand how internal social dynamics impede the business from being as successful as it can be
Encourage collaboration and harmony amongst staff/employees
Understand & tap into the great skill sets your employees have - many have tremendous experience and insight beyond the job they're presently in. Learn how to identify these star performers and encourage and reward them. Many want to help you succeed even more, but feel they're turned away when new ideas are brought up.

    Pros

    Honest attempts for innovation
    High visibility
    Good benefits

    Cons

    Skewed metrics of success
    Siloing of roles
Lack of compassion to human problems

    Advice to Management

The siloing and compartmentalization of functions is logical only to some extent. Faltering and stormy projects needs an 'All hands on the deck' approach. Sometimes I am forced to silo to ensure that I am not seen as usurping other roles (And also to regulate/control my workload and to focus on my core duties).
So management needs to understand that in such an environment, numbers mean nothing. People with the correct selfless attitudes mean more.

    Pros

Philips is a worldwide company, run pretty well in many places but not all.

    Cons

Each small division has some good management and some not so good. There can be a culture clash when philips tries to manage one countries workers in the style of another country's management. This happened at Oral Health.

    Advice to Management

    Manage with local management styles.
