I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice Benefits and Pay Culture Values Telecommute Nice facilities

    Cons

Too much work is placed on you with no compensation When processes are changed upper management gets the credit/bonuses but when it falls apart they blame it on those who are following the process. Upper Management knows nothing about the day-day task and acts as if we don't even exist Can be too clicky, if you're not with the "cool kids" consider yourself on the chopping block

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the people at the "bottom" who bust their butts to make your numbers and bonus check fat!

    Pros

Pay and Benefits are excellent and within line with other companies. The people on my team were for the most part excellent to work with and other teams in the building were by and far very helpful. The daily environment was good from a people perspective

    Cons

Management or lack thereof. Unfortunately the company hires number crunchers instead of people who know the business. This leads to very short term thinking and managers only worried about fudging spreadsheets to make sure they get their bonus. Leads to frustration within the teams because policies are not good for the employees or the customer. The healthcare side of the company could be doing so much better if there was a common sense knowledge base of how to run things and what the customer actually wants and needs. Layoffs every year for the last number of years leads to high stress and it is turning into a bit of a protect myself and my knowledge situation and is limiting the helpful nature of teamwork

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring numbers crunchers. Go back to hiring managers who have worked in the field of the team they are managing. Actually listen to your employees. Some short term sacrifices can lead to long term success. Stop releasing products before they are ready and train all support staff appropriately. No more train the trainer

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay is pretty good. Lots of overtime.

    Cons

If they ask your opinion don't give it, they really don't care. Go to work when you want. Call in sick frequently, they seem to like that and promote you for being a slacker.

    Advice to Management

Company needs to get their act together. You keep trying new things to fix the problems. Try getting it right the first time. You need to take care of your employees that actually care about their customers and not just collecting a check.

I worked at Philips Healthcare as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is fair and encourages suggestions. Coworkers look for ways to help one another to succeed. There are opportunities to learn more ways to help do your job. What I liked most is that management will support their employees in the event of customer complaints. This is a customer service job and there are occasional customer complaints, usually from the same curmudgeons. However, most of the customers call regularly and are great to work with.

    Cons

Because it is a customer service job, you are tied to the telephones and only allowed short breaks. Most training done online and expected to be taken between phone calls.

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and more freedom than most companies.

    Cons

workforce has aged a lot and the progress of the company is slow

    Pros

This is a big company which offers good pay and benefits. A lot of great people to learn from. When you can get training it is very good.

    Cons

Contractor positions never become full time even after several years of hard work and dedication. There is an unfair treatment between how employees and contractors are treated. No raises or incentives provided for contractors as well.

    Advice to Management

For a better sense of unity and professionalism treating all employees equally would go a long way. Offer training to all employees temp and perm. Promote those that work hard and want to grow rather than holding them back.

  9. Want you to pay it forward...so you do...and it doesn't come back

    Pros

Let you take time if when needed. Good benefits package.

    Cons

You pay it forward, then they don't compensate. They promote based on a "good 'ole boy" system. If you get in with the right clique, you will be promoted. However, expect your manager to resent you if you decide to move on to a better job outside his/her department. They put out a yearly employee feedback survey. If you answer with anything other than positive, they will try and "weed" you out, because a manager's performance review is based on his/her survey scores. Also, the manager expects his/her team to develop ways to bring up the scores, The survey is pointless.

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees for the hard work they do. Promote people other than those that have become your friends. Eliminate the employee survey, it is pointless. Besides, you would save the company millions.
