Internship at Philips overall experience was not bad but disappointing for a high performer

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Philips Healthcare Communications as an intern for more than a year

ProsThe interaction with great people with vast amount of knowledge in the field, the learning opportunities and the compensation benefits are the best

ConsToo much bureaucracy, not open to recruiting young talent, supervisors are not open to new ideas and teams have no much time to perform because everyones hands are already full and members spend most time in meetings than actually doing the work

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease keep politics out and let the subordinates do their jobs and prove themselves before forming any opinions and making assumptions about their performance. Let the evaluation be based on performance and not simply based on opinions that have no basis.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great people on the workfloor, worst managers in the world

Marketing Director (Former Employee)
Best (Netherlands)

I worked at Philips Healthcare Communications full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPassionate employees who will go on no matter what.

ConsManagement straight out of a Dilbert cartoon. No knowledge, no vision, no empathy, no social skills, no appreciation for their employees nor for their customers. Management consists primarily of yesheads, just there for their own careers, kiss the bosses and kick the working force. Too much focus on procedures, no focus on customer or product. Reducing on creativity, knowledge and expertise, expanding on talentless spreadsheet managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementResign your jobs a.s.a.p. The company will do much better without you and employee engagement will skyrocket.

Good people, bad marketing, short vision

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Philips Healthcare Communications full-time for more than 10 years

ProsA comittment to building relationships and delivering on promises has proven to differentiate the company from compeitors. That is changing.

ConsManagement and program changes, and not promting from within underminde established opportunities. Too slow to respond and prevent competitive challenges.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed comitment to longer term vision, and stick to initiatives that have created valuable relationships.

Good company to work.

Account Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Philips Healthcare Communications full-time

ProsI worked with some great people who were very experienced and knowlegeable. Enjoyed working for Philips, since they were a company who focused on hiring talented individuals and developing quality products.

ConsYour overall experience depended heavily on your manager. If you had a great manager = great experience. Bad manager = bad experience. This can translate to any company, but Philips does not tend to weed out the ineffective managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on great leadership.
