I have been working at Philips Healthcare

    Pros

Very People centric and allow for fostering innovation and if one is good at their job they can grow and prosper.

    Cons

Going through quite a few organizational changes currently. However this is an attempt to streamline the company and bring it into the fast paced interconnected world. This is more applicable in Healthcare which is still old world in construction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pace the changes. The changes may be coming too fast for people to recover.

Philips Healthcare takes pride in what it manufactures, however, lack of leadership continues to fail its employees.

I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Healthcare is an excellent place to be. Philips has better than average benefits and flexible, for the most part, with work life balances.

    Cons

Unfortunately, Philips being a public traded company cares more about the stock strength than whether an excellent employee keeps their job. When it does (which has often over the past 3 years) lay people off, they do not look at the true issues of why they struggle at being successful. Their Sales Operations management is failing this Philips miserably, but the management seems to remain. They continually let their field sales teams down and keep them from succeeding. Philips' incentive management has had 300% turnover in the past couple years and can't seem to find replacements. It has to do with their management (director and sr manager levels).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to the executive leadership: your HR needs to be more honest with you about why you lose you EXCELLENT employees to other companies or through your layoffs. You sales teams are excellent - unfortunately their sales operations teams fail them, along with their tools to make Philips successful. Take a look at overhauling your Sales Operations leadership and your HR leadership and see improvements.

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They are quick to recognize talent and committed to retaining it. You are encouraged to take ownership and drive improvements and change. The senior management is very supportive.

    Cons

When one area of the business suffers all BIU's feel the pain. Cuts have happened frequently (staff and budgets) in my limited time here due to issues that prevented the sale of CT units for nearly a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Permit the business units to operate more independently. Don't assume the same tools work well for all business units. They don't.

Former Employee - Electrical Design Engineer in San Jose, CA

I worked at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I made lifelong friends, received the best engineering mentorship of my entire career, and was able to work with a seasoned group of really nice and funny people. I actually wanted to come to work every day.

My manager was also very cool about coming into work not-so-perfectly on time. I really appreciated that.

    Cons

Constant changing of upper management, re-orgs, etc. This makes it quite difficult to move up. In fact, at least at my site, there wasn't much of a prospect of moving up past a certain point.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope they don't lose that small-sized family atmosphere that honestly, is unrivaled in any other company which I've worked. The management *seemed* to be very transparent with everyone, and the direction of the company was rarely a mystery. I hear that has changed in recent times.
