I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working for a instantly recognizable name .

    Cons

Releasing products, imo, without fully testing.
Constantly calling on customers for upgrade after upgrade. Great for engineering staff who like long days working in sometimes unrealistic timescales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please think about work/life balance of your engineering staff. Seems more like work/work!

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice people work here. They really want to do the right thing. Working hard, following the rules and trying to do their part, the worker bees are trying to make this company succeed.

    Cons

Company puts revenue generation above all else. In healthcare, this can sometimes be at the expense of quality and following regulations.
It is very hard to find out who is responsible for what. Part of the problem is that there may be no one responsible. There are numerous partial re-orgs, where part of the company changes structure, and other parts cannot adapt theirs to the new org.
If you like big bureaucracies that have many procedures that are difficult to understand and even locate, this may be a good place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pray for help. It will take tremendous leadership to dig out of this one. Most leaders don't appear too vested however.

    Pros

passionate and committed co-workers...in the main

    Cons

ever changing commission structure and timing of payment making top earning achievement very difficult and overall very demotivating

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Each business unit needs to adopt clearer short, medium and long term sales and marketing strategies and remain flexible and innovative to quickly address changes in the competitive market landscape

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Good products and thus easier to sell in market.
The original Philips team were very people centric, humble and friendly which makes it easier to fit in
    Focus on innovation and technology

    Cons

Terrible strategic execution. Philips has big silos and hierrachies making it hard to execute smartly. Go to market is very long and market relevance fails all too often as there is no genuine involvement of critical stakeholders.
Business continuity is at big risk with last months announcement of the 2-company split where even senior executives could not understand and relay ifnformation convincingly. Philips is changing its strategies too often meaning they are not trying to be agile but are instead confused. Watch this space a lot of jobs will be lost.
Operations and execution teams are the most ignored teams in Philips and it gets worse as you get to markets + growth markets. Good sales people dont make great general managers otherwise we are pushing boxes instead of offering solutions. All incentives and majority of training is targetted to sales people and only after a scandal is fragmented support offered to Ops and support functions. Think twice before joining Operations. Most overworked, most underappreciated.
HR department has been most disappointing. In my experience with 4 countries HRs, there is no alignment, no people focus, no speed on resolving sometimes the most critical matters. Little accountability. Salaries are least harmonized
Most new hires are quickly eroding the good and highly respected culture and values of Philips. HQ and key offices are a different ball game from markets. Philips needs to be extra careful with vetting system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Truly listen to the people, meet them, hear, engage, involve
HR = No harmony in salaries and poor vetting of candidates. Referral program while a good intitiative has been abused in some countries causing 'cartels' of incompetent people. Everybody owes every other a favour. Glass ceilings.
and managers need to held more accountable. A lot of big talk, too many consultants, very few executors
Break silos, appreciate all and not just the commercial team
Recheck BMC, good strategy, many gaps - dont ignore
Remember it is getting more competitive, act faster. VOC

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people in Philips are truly fantastic, and are motivated by the value they add in the care of patients. Every person in the company I've interacted with has their own great story to share about why healthcare is the most important thing.

    Cons

Salaries are below average, the work load is heavy for a few and the constant state of change is difficult to navigate if you're not resilient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Execute on strategy. Be decisive and clear. Communicate. Look to your middle management, they understand the tactical ways you can deploy strategy and get closer to the customer. Cut the political crap at the executive level and establish stability and a step-by-step path to value.

    Pros

There are none.It has come completely faceless. We are being screwed with holidays and remuneration. We even have to book Christmas day as annual leave. The altitude is if you don't like it you know what you can do, and guys are leaving by the bus load.I will be on my bike asap.

    Cons

A culture of bullying and intimidation from the management and he.They have lost the plot big style. They have a master plan which is to turn a once good company into a wasteland that no one will want to go near with a barge pole.It is so sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start greeting the Engineers like human beings with lives! Start listening and get back in touch or is there some hidden agenda? HR is staffed by meglamaniac's who have totally lost contact and do not know how to treat people.
